The Motion Graphics Designer III provides advanced technical leadership across FTI’s motion design and animation production, ensuring consistency, craft excellence, and scalable execution across 2D/3D animation, kinetic typography, and visual effects. This role leads through influence rather than formal people management, setting technical animation standards, operationalizing motion systems, and elevating team output through mentorship, coaching, and hands-on guidance. Partners closely with the Multimedia Strategy Manager to support execution planning, technical feasibility, and workflow optimization while maintaining a high bar for design quality and brand integrity.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Motion Design, Graphic Design, Animation, Digital Media, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
Experience: 7–10 years of advanced motion design and animation experience within an in-house, agency, or corporate environment.
Software: Expert proficiency in Adobe After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro. Working knowledge or mastery of 3D software. (Cinema 4D or Blender).
Design Mastery: Demonstrated mastery of motion design principles, kinetic typography, visual hierarchy, graphic design fundamentals, vector illustration, compositing, and expression scripting.
Leadership & Strategy: Proven experience leading complex, high-visibility motion design projects, establishing design systems/templates, and mentoring junior design staff without formal managerial oversight.
Travel: 5-10%
Work Schedule: This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday- Friday. However, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Technical & Creative Leadership: Serves as the primary subject-matter expert for motion design, graphic animation, kinetic typography, visual effects, and 3D integration across all digital channels.
- Design Systems & Scalability: Operationalizes FTI Video and Motion Brand Guidelines into comprehensive After Effects project frameworks, expressions, and technical brand toolkits.
- Complex Execution: Leads end-to-end conceptualization, storyboarding, style-frame development, and animation for high-stakes campaigns, corporate initiatives, and complex explainer videos.
- Peer Mentorship & Quality Assurance: Mentors Motion Graphics Designers I & II, conducts creative/technical reviews, and establishes best practices for file organization, expressions, and rendering pipelines.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partners with Multimedia Specialists, Graphic Designers, and Marketing Strategists to integrate motion assets seamlessly into broader video, web, and digital executions.
- Process & Efficiency: Identifies opportunities to streamline motion workflows, optimize render pipelines, and maintain digital asset management (DAM) standards across project lifecycles.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
