EDUCATION AND/OR PROFESSIONAL LICENSE(s):
· B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field required.
· Training in quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100) preferred
EXPERIENCE:
· 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance and testing with emphasis on embedded systems and/or application software
· 2+ years of experience in QA leadership, test engineering, or technical supervision preferred
· Experience establishing or scaling software QA processes and teams preferred
· Experience with embedded firmware testing and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing preferred
· Experience with military, aerospace, or other regulated program testing preferred
· Experience with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD integration preferred
· Security clearance desired or ability to obtain
ABOUT THE JOB!
We are seeking an experienced Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Lead Engineer to establish, lead, perform, and mature quality assurance practices for embedded firmware, mobile applications, and PC-based software supporting next-generation electro-mechanical and electro-acoustic systems. This position will play a critical role in ensuring software quality and product reliability. The SQA Lead will define testing strategies, establish quality standards, and implement manual and automated testing frameworks, working closely with software engineering, systems engineering, and program management to deliver high-quality products that meet customer requirements and regulatory standards. This role requires both hands-on technical expertise and leadership in building scalable QA processes and potentially growing a QA team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Establish and lead the software quality assurance function, including defining QA processes, standards, and best practices
· Develop and execute comprehensive test strategies and test plans for embedded firmware, mobile applications, and PC-based software
· Design, implement, and maintain automated test frameworks and test infrastructure
· Lead requirements review and analysis to ensure testability and quality
· Perform and oversee test case design, test execution, defect tracking, and test reporting
· Establish and maintain requirements traceability and test coverage metrics
· Support hardware-software integration testing and system-level validation
· Develop and maintain test documentation including test plans, test procedures, test reports, and quality metrics
· Ensure compliance with site quality management system requirements and applicable regulatory requirements
· Interface with software subcontractors and external partners to ensure quality deliverables
· Prepare and deliver quality reports, metrics, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
· Mentor and develop QA team members; participate in hiring process as we scale the QA organization
· Drive continuous improvement through root cause analysis, lessons learned, and process optimization
· Collaborate with cross-functional groups to achieve enterprise and departmental quality goals
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Leadership & Quality Management
· Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop software quality assurance teams
· Ability to establish and enforce software quality standards, processes, and best practices
· Experience in test planning and resource allocation across multiple programs
· Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and quality assurance methodologies
· Ability to drive continuous improvement and lessons-learned activities
· Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
· Experience with quality management systems and regulatory compliance (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100, DO-178, MIL-STD-882) preferred
Software Testing & Quality Assurance
· Strong understanding of software testing methodologies including unit testing, integration testing, system testing, regression testing, and acceptance testing
· Experience with embedded software testing on custom hardware platforms
· Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI)
· Experience with requirements management and traceability tools (e.g., Visure, DOORS, Jira)
· Experience with defect tracking and test management tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail, qTest)
· Ability to review software/firmware requirements for testability and quality
· Experience with test automation frameworks and tools (e.g., pytest, Robot Framework, Selenium, Appium) preferred
Technical Skills
· Experience with scripting languages for test automation (e.g., Python, Bash)
· Familiarity with hardware debugging tools and interfaces (e.g., JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers) a plus
· Knowledge of wireless protocols and testing (e.g., Bluetooth, Wi-Fi) a plus
· Experience with mobile application testing (iOS/Android) a plus
· Experience with PC application testing (Windows/Mac/Linux) a plus
Preferred/Plus Experience
· Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing
· Experience with performance testing, stress testing, and reliability testing
· Experience with audio/acoustic system testing a plus
· Knowledge of encryption and secure communication testing a plus
· Experience with over-the-air (OTA) update testing and validation a plus
Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration
· Strong cross-discipline communication skills to collaborate with Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Test Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Program Management
· Ability to translate technical requirements into comprehensive test strategies
· Competence in technical documentation and presentations using MS Office tools
· Experience interfacing with customers, subcontractors, and external partners
