The Opportunity
The Group Marketing Manager, MarCom and Digital position works out of our Austin, TX location in the Cardiac Rhythm Management Division.
This is a fully onsite role.
As a global leader in Cardiac Rhythm Technologies, we focus on innovative technologies that can improve the way doctors treat people with heart arrhythmias or irregular heartbeats.
This role is responsible for leading the organization in leveraging passion about healthcare and technology to impact patients’ lives.
The Group Marketing Manager, Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) is responsible for leading the strategic development, execution, and optimization of integrated marketing initiatives that drive awareness, engagement, patient acquisition, and therapy adoption across Abbott's CRM portfolio. This role oversees omnichannel marketing programs targeting patients, referring physicians, and implanting cardiologists while ensuring alignment with commercial objectives, customer insights, and regulatory requirements.
As a key marketing leader, this position manages a team of marketing professionals and managers responsible for marketing communications, digital marketing, and direct-to-consumer (DTC) engagement. The role plays a critical leadership function in establishing and scaling new patient and referring physician marketing capabilities, including the execution of a strategic multi-million-dollar market development initiative supporting Abbott's AVEIR™ Leadless Pacemaker portfolio. Through strong leadership, data-driven decision making, and cross-functional collaboration, the Group Marketing Manager transforms market insights into integrated strategies that accelerate business growth and strengthen Abbott's leadership position in cardiac rhythm management.
What You'll Work On
Strategic Marketing Leadership
- Develop and lead integrated marketing strategies across the CRM portfolio, ensuring alignment with franchise, commercial, and enterprise objectives.
- Translate business priorities into comprehensive marketing plans that drive patient demand, physician engagement, and therapy adoption.
- Continuously evaluate market conditions, customer insights, competitive dynamics, and performance data to optimize strategic direction.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership by providing recommendations that support long-term growth objectives.
Team Leadership and Organizational Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of marketing professionals, including direct management of senior marketing leaders.
- Establish clear performance expectations, priorities, and accountability measures across the organization.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, continuous improvement, and talent development.
- Ensure organizational structure, capabilities, and resources are aligned to support evolving business needs.
Patient-Centered Marketing and Direct-to-Consumer Strategy
- Lead the development and execution of patient-focused marketing programs designed to increase disease awareness, patient education, engagement, and acquisition.
- Establish and scale direct-to-consumer marketing capabilities within CRM.
- Drive omnichannel engagement strategies that connect patients with appropriate therapy solutions and healthcare providers.
- Implement customer-centric approaches informed by market research, behavioral insights, and analytics.
Healthcare Professional Marketing Leadership
- Oversee marketing strategies and campaigns targeting both referring physicians and implanting cardiologists.
- Develop innovative approaches to engage referral networks and strengthen physician awareness of CRM therapies.
- Support therapy adoption through educational and promotional programs aligned with clinical and commercial objectives.
- Collaborate with sales, medical affairs, and education teams to ensure consistent messaging and customer engagement.
Omnichannel Campaign Management
- Direct the planning, development, and execution of integrated campaigns across marketing communications, digital, social media, websites, CRM/email, point-of-care, and paid media channels.
- Ensure campaigns are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with applicable regulations and company policies.
- Establish best practices for campaign execution, measurement, and optimization.
- Drive continuous improvement in marketing effectiveness and operational excellence.
Analytics, Insights, and Performance Optimization
- Define and monitor key performance indicators that measure business and marketing outcomes.
- Leverage customer insights, market data, and campaign analytics to improve decision making and marketing effectiveness.
- Evaluate marketing investment performance and return on investment.
- Present performance results and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner closely with Medical Affairs, Sales, Regulatory Affairs, Legal, Market Access, Product Marketing, Analytics, and Commercial Leadership to deliver aligned business strategies.
- Lead cross-functional planning efforts and facilitate stakeholder alignment around strategic priorities.
- Ensure marketing activities remain compliant with healthcare industry regulations and company policies.
- Influence organizational decisions through strong stakeholder engagement and executive communication.
Agency and Budget Management
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight to external agency partners across creative development, patient engagement, media, digital marketing, analytics, and customer experience initiatives.
- Manage marketing investment budgets exceeding $10 million while ensuring appropriate resource allocation and performance accountability.
- Evaluate agency performance, contractual obligations, and program effectiveness.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required.
Master's degree preferred.
Minimum 10-12+ years of progressive marketing experience, preferably within medical device, healthcare, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other highly regulated industries.
Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing managers and/or senior-level individual contributors, with demonstrated success leading multi-layered teams (direct and indirect reports).
Experience leading patient-centered marketing initiatives and physician engagement strategies, including both referring physicians and specialist audiences (e.g., implanting cardiologists).
Strong background in strategy development, campaign execution, and translating insights and analytics into actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
Deep understanding of healthcare regulatory, legal, and compliance requirements impacting marketing.
Demonstrates the ability to lead cross-functional collaboration across medical, legal, regulatory, sales, and analytics teams.
Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making capabilities, including KPI development and performance optimization.
Experience managing external agencies and complex marketing budgets.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at the senior executive level.
Knowledge of CRM therapies or cardiovascular space strongly preferred but not required.
