Lead Production Operator

Job Description:

To support business growth, we are currently seeking a Lead Production Operator within our chemical production department to be based in our DeWitt IA facility.

Regular hours are:

• Monday to Thursday: 6:30AM to 4:00PM
• Friday 6:30AM to 10:30AM
• Overtime may be required. 

This is a fantastic opportunity to expand your knowledge and share your expertise with the Chemical production group with a safety centered approach. Training New Hires and Cross training the Production Operators for ongoing development will be your main role, in addition to keeping the training matrix and training sheets up to date and organized.  In the role of Lead Production Operator, you will need to communicate professionally, maintain high housekeeping standards and have computer duties to expand your knowledge. These objectives will play an important part in serving our customers with excellence. 

Essential Job Responsibilities:

·       Promotes and follows all Safety and ISO guidelines and procedures.

• Ensures cleaning of mixing equipment by work instructions at scheduled intervals is completed.

·       Training and monitoring Chemical Operators utilizing kanban system.

• Identify maintenance issues and reports them in the Upkeep program using the QR.
• Contributes ideas to improve or optimize manufacturing procedures.
• Will aid in proof reading SMP’s and ensuring the Chemical Operators are utilizing this training tool.
• Recommend safety improvements as necessary.

·       Training new hires and cross-training chemical production operators.

·       Updating the matrix spreadsheet for cross-training and signing training sheets.

·       Adhering to the Chemical Cleaning Calendar and ensuring that the Production Group is completing their assignments.

·       Filling out the Chemical Production Monthly calendar for the Chemical Production Operators.

·       Ensuring Tankers are posted on the Monthly Calendar and assigned an Operator.

·       Fill out the Tanker Labels to ensure the correct bulk tanks are used and the amount in the bulk tank will not exceed the capacity of the tank.

·       Knowing how to read tank telemetries.

·        Pulling labels for Finished Good products.

·       Being a back-up for scheduling the Production Chemical Operators in their daily routines.  

·       Walk through the Production area at the end of day to ensure Equipment, lights, fans, valves closed are shut off.

·       Will take walk throughs of the Chemical Dept randomly through-out the shift to ensure the Operators are staying on task and are correctly and safely performing their assignments.

·       Reading the open order report.

·       Must be able to lift 55 lbs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• 3-4 years of manufacturing experience.
• Computer Skills

• Ability to work with the Chemical Operators in a professional manner.
• Good level of attention to detail
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to communicate effectively while training new hires and cross training.
