At Elk Creek Animal Hospital of Hikes Point in Louisville, Kentucky, we believe you can provide excellent patient care and still have a life outside the hospital. We’re a two-doctor small animal practice offering four-day workweeks designed to give our team time to recharge and get home for dinner with their families.

Our Hikes Point hospital is one of three Elk Creek Animal Hospital locations, giving team members the opportunity to explore our other locations if interested and pick up additional hours when desired. We’re looking for a Licensed/Registered Veterinary Technician who brings strong technical skills, compassion, and a collaborative approach to patient care.

What Our Veterinary Technicians Do

• Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed
• Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, fluid therapy, and sample collection
• Run in-house laboratory testing, including CBC/chemistry, urinalysis, cytology, fecals, and more
• Support surgical and dental procedures, including preparation, monitoring, recovery, and instrument care
• Monitor anesthesia and patient vital signs during procedures
• Provide post-operative care and monitor patients throughout recovery
• Maintain cleanliness and sterility of surgical instruments and equipment
• Educate and communicate with clients about patient care, medications, discharge instructions, and preventative care
• Accurately document patient care and treatments in the medical record
• Collaborate with the veterinary team to maintain an efficient workflow and positive hospital culture

What Our Veterinary Technicians Bring

• Licensed/Registered Veterinary Technician credentials
• A minimum of one year of experience as a Veterinary Technician or equivalent education and training
• Proficiency in animal handling and restraint techniques
• Experience with venipuncture and catheter placement
• Experience administering medications and treatments
• Comfort with anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery
• Experience supporting surgical and dental procedures
• Familiarity with veterinary software systems and accurate medical record keeping
• Strong communication and client education skills
• A collaborative approach and commitment to maintaining a positive hospital culture
