What would you do? We are seeking a Fraud Operations SME with 5–8 years of experience in fraud risk operations to provide deep domain expertise across transaction monitoring, alert investigation, fraud claims, and payment fraud controls for US-based banking and fintech clients. This role will serve as the functional authority for fraud case handling, support complex investigations and escalations, guide analyst teams on fraud typologies and policy interpretation, and partner with operations, quality, training, and client stakeholders to strengthen fraud controls, improve decision accuracy, and reduce fraud losses.
What are we looking for? Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Business, Risk, or a related field preferred. • 5–8 years of relevant experience in fraud operations, fraud risk management, or payment fraud investigations, preferably supporting US banking or fintech clients. • Strong knowledge of US payment rails, including ACH, wire, debit and credit cards, P2P, RTP, and fraud claims or dispute workflows. • Deep understanding of fraud typologies, scam patterns, account takeover, mule behavior, synthetic or first-party fraud, and digital fraud controls. • Working knowledge of relevant US regulations and network rules, including Reg E, Reg Z, and dispute or chargeback frameworks. • Experience in coaching, training support, calibrations, quality review, or process improvement is strongly preferred. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capability with attention to detail and sound judgment. • Ability to communicate complex fraud concepts clearly to analysts, operations leaders, and client stakeholders. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with fraud monitoring systems, case management platforms, and workflow tools. Working Conditions • The candidate must be flexible to work US or rotational shifts and be willing to extend shift hours during transitions, fraud spikes, critical incidents, or governance reviews, as needed
Roles and Responsibilities: •• Act as the subject matter expert for fraud operations across payment channels including ACH, wire, cards, P2P, RTP, checks, and digital banking transactions. • Support the review and resolution of the most complex or high-risk fraud cases, including account takeover, mule activity, scam-related fraud, first-party fraud, and cross-channel attack patterns. • Provide expert guidance to analysts and team leaders on investigation approach, red flags, payment flows, fraud typologies, and case disposition decisions. • Interpret client procedures, fraud policies, and applicable regulations to ensure consistent and compliant operational decisions. • Partner with quality, training, and process excellence teams to support calibrations, error analysis, content updates, and capability building across the fraud operations team. • Support QC and audit reviews through proper documentation and adherence to procedures.. • Analyze trends, root causes, and recurring error themes to identify control gaps, recommend process improvements, and enhance fraud detection effectiveness. • Support new process transitions, pilot programs, and change initiatives by validating business rules, reviewing workflows, and ensuring operational readiness. • Prepare domain insights, fraud trend summaries, and recommendations for internal leadership and client stakeholders. • Review fraud claims, chargeback-related cases, and recovery scenarios where expert judgment is required. • Drive adherence to SLA, quality, and compliance expectations while helping maintain audit-ready documentation and standardized case handling practices.
