Trades Recruiter (6-Month Contract)– Calgary, AB

At PTW, you won't be sitting around waiting for applicants to come to you. This is a fast-paced, high-volume internal recruitment role where you'll source, connect with, and hire skilled tradespeople to support projects across our business.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • Coordinate high-volume workforce planning, recruitment and staffing for local and site-based positions.

  • Own recruitment activities from ATTRACT to RECRUIT:

    • Review resumes, source candidates, pre-screen, interview, and assess candidates in partnership with hiring managers.

    • Proactively source qualified trades candidates through various recruitment channels.

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with tradespeople and candidates throughout the recruitment process.

    • Connect with candidates regularly, clearly communicate opportunities, answer questions, and provide a positive candidate experience.

    • Contact qualified candidates to present job offers and move candidates through the hiring process.

    • Complete recruitment processes and update ATS information, ensuring a professional applicant experience.

  • Support internal movement, redeployment, and workforce planning by identifying opportunities to retain and mobilize skilled tradespeople across PTW projects and locations.

  • Work with internal teams to identify available employees and match their skills, experience, and availability with upcoming project requirements.

  • Coordinate interviews between hiring teams and candidates and communicate interview results and next steps clearly and promptly.

  • Build strong working relationships with hiring managers and internal stakeholders to understand staffing needs and deliver recruitment solutions.

  • Maintain frequent communication with hiring managers to provide updates on candidate pipelines, recruitment activity, and staffing priorities.

  • Compile weekly statistical information pertaining to attraction and recruitment activities.

  • Participate in internal recruitment and HR processes and practices.

  • Leverage social networking sites and other recruitment channels to promote employment opportunities.

  • Participate in job fairs and recruitment events to promote our employer brand, network with tradespeople, and build future candidate pipelines.

  • Act as a trusted point of contact for candidates and hiring teams, building relationships that support both immediate hiring needs and long-term workforce planning.

  • Help keep our projects staffed by ensuring a strong pipeline of qualified trades talent.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years of Trades Recruiting experience.

  • Workforce planning experience is an asset.

  • Previous recruitment experience within the construction, industrial, oil and gas, or maintenance industries is considered an asset.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate confidently and professionally with candidates, tradespeople, hiring managers, and internal stakeholders.

  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to develop and maintain a strong network of skilled trades candidates.

  • Comfortable making a high volume of calls and engaging with candidates throughout the recruitment process.

  • Proven ability to manage high-volume recruitment in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive candidate experience.

  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Ability to prioritize competing recruitment needs and manage multiple positions and candidates simultaneously.

  • Strong follow-up skills and a proactive approach to keeping candidates and hiring managers informed.

  • Confident, personable, and comfortable speaking with people at all levels.

  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to effectively present opportunities and close candidates.

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative recruitment team.

  • Knowledge of the Alberta trades market is critical.

  • Knowledge of the BC, Ontario, and Saskatchewan trades markets is a strong asset.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential to success in this role.

  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume recruitment environment with competing priorities and tight timelines.
