(IND) SENIOR MANAGER, SOFTWARE ENGINEERING

Position Summary...

We are seeking an energetic, proactive and  experienced Senior Manager for the OS software team in Vizio with a passion for building high performing team and creating state of the art embedded consumer products. You will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge embedded OS software and frameworks for the next generation of Vizio Smart TVs.

Come help us build the next generation of smart TVs! We're building a new platform from the ground up to take user experience to the next level for millions of users. You will be joining the team that builds and maintains the core operating system platform that is a basis of strong foundation. . Your work will have a large, direct impact on customer experience.

What You Will Do

• Manages and develops engineering teams, growing team’s competencies and performance against company targets.
• Lead a team of amazing software and firmware engineers to deliver software/firmware that provides incredible performance and reliability
• Define technical strategy with and through your team, including both for firmware development as well as automated performance and reliability testing
• Foster a culture of delivery and quality that enables you to grow your team members' skills and careers
• Collaborate with other senior leaders across product, operations, software and hardware engineering, and design to define and deliver innovative solutions
• Coding, Debugging, Bug fixing and so on that is required to release a software package.
• Collaborate with QA and 3rd party partners to deliver a project on time.
• Research and implement a functional requirement using up to date technology and skills.
• Influences others to accept practices and approaches.
• Drive recruiting efforts and growth/ budget planning
• Design the software architecture to support the requirements.
• Review the software design and implementations.
• Maintain the code clean, and modular for cross-platform architecture.
• Proactive in foreseeing issues and resolve it before it happens
•  Ensure teams have clear priorities
•  Providing technical guidance, career development, and mentoring to team members
•  Communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

What you will bring

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science (or a related program) or equivalent work experience
• 12+ Years of overall experience with 5+ years of management experience
• Highly proficient in C, C++11/14. Experience in Shell-Script, Makefile, git, bug tracking tools.   
• Experience in Device driver/kernel-modules/u-boot/board-bring up/filesystem/memory management/SELinux, toolchain/makefile/cmake/build environment set-ups, dockers containerization, snapcraft.
• Experience defining, developing, or contributing to validation and release processes, including automated testing either on-target or in simulation
• Demonstrated ability to inspire, grow, and effectively manage a team of talented engineers
• Interest in contributing to our product vision, engineering approach, and team culture
• Experience in HAL layer, notification system, IPC multi-processing, multi-threading, debugging/core dump analysis. 
• Proven strong track record of shipping high-quality hardware and software at scale
• You are a self-starter that thrives in a fast-paced, yet at times, ambiguous environment
• You are a hard-working team player, with a "no task is too small" attitude
• You are a creative problem-solver who digs into root causes analytically, instead of relying on intuition
• You have excellent written and verbal communication skills

Option 2: 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area. 2 years’ supervisory experience.
