Role Overview:
The Work Transfer Manager minimizes or eliminates supply chain risks by executing on sourcing goals specific to resourcing supplier goods and services both to external suppliers, internal Collins locations and supplier managed transitions. Responsible for creating and driving the overall work transfer project plan in compliance with the approved Collins and Interiors Work Transfer procedures. The plan shall include but is not limited to first article inspection plan, capacity analysis, overlap plans, production readiness assessments, and cross functional approvals via a gated process.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Establishes and drives the project plan for work movement between suppliers and suppliers to/from internal make factories
  • Manages project teams comprised of representatives from Commodity, Procurement, Quality, Engineering and others as well as supplier representatives
  • Supports execution of the Commodity strategy by managing work movement to strategic Collin’s suppliers
  • Responsible for ensuring projects are executed in compliance with the Collins Aerospace and Interiors Work Transfer procedures
  • Key contributor in overall implementation of the gated work transfer approval process with accountability for Gates 3 & 4
  • Establish sourcing goals and acceptable service levels
  • Negotiates and is accountable for FAI and Production delivery dates supporting the work transfer process
  • Analyzes delivery proposals, capacity assessments, demands, inventory and other data and information to determine successful transfer plans
  • Evaluates vendors' capability, quality and reliability
  • Identifies and conducts research on suppliers to ensure that the organization’s standards of quality, timing, and reliability of supply are met
  • Leads supplier approval and qualification process for new goods and services
  • Ensures supplier or commodity is performing to the designed Collins requirements from delivery, quality, and production readiness
  • Accountable for ensuring projects are in alignment with all company and regulatory policies such as:  ITC, REACh, Contracts & Legal, etc.
  • Assumes management of special projects that supports the business unit’s goals and objectives
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Supply chain sourcing experience
  • Materials procurement and/or planning experience
  • SAP or similar ERP system experience
  • Experience with project management and/or work movement between suppliers and businesses
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and in an organized manner, with strong customer service focus
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma or similar continuous process improvement program
  • Experience with MS Office
  • Strong communication & organizational skills

Basic Qualifications:

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline with 10+ years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years of relevant experience.
