Bedford Greenwich Animal Hospital is looking for a compassionate and dependable Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist to join our full-time team. We are a homegrown, multi-doctor, full-service hospital serving the Westchester and Greenwich communities with high-quality medicine and personalized care.
This hybrid position offers the opportunity to support both the medical and client-service sides of the hospital. You’ll assist with patient care, treatments, and procedures while also helping clients feel welcomed, informed, and supported throughout every visit.

What Our Veterinary Assistant/Receptionists Do
- Assist veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians during examinations, treatments, surgeries, and other procedures
- Safely and compassionately handle and restrain patients
- Prepare examination rooms, treatment areas, and surgical spaces
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize equipment and hospital surfaces
- Collect blood, urine, stool, and other diagnostic samples as directed
- Assist with basic laboratory testing and diagnostic procedures
- Administer medications and treatments under the direction of the veterinary team
- Feed, bathe, walk, and provide attentive care for patients as needed
- Welcome clients and patients with warmth and professionalism
- Manage multiple phone lines and respond to client questions
- Schedule appointments and support an efficient daily workflow
- Check clients and patients in and out
- Process payments and maintain accurate client and patient information
- Communicate with pet owners regarding care instructions, treatment plans, and follow-up visits
- Maintain complete and accurate medical records
- Keep the hospital clean, organized, well stocked, and compliant with safety standards
- Collaborate with doctors, technicians, assistants, and receptionists to provide an exceptional client and patient experience
What Our Veterinary Assistant/Receptionists Bring
- Previous experience in a veterinary hospital or animal-care setting preferred
- Experience assisting with patient care and veterinary procedures
- Strong customer-service and client-communication skills
- Knowledge of proper cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization practices
- Familiarity with medication administration and diagnostic equipment preferred
- Safe and compassionate animal-handling skills
- Confidence managing multiple priorities in a busy hospital
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfort using computers and learning veterinary practice-management software
- Ability to maintain accurate medical and client records
- Dependable, professional, and team-oriented attitude
- Genuine passion for helping pets and the people who love them
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting and safely handling animals
