Job Description
- Lead the Accounting function and ensure accurate, complete, timely, and compliant recording and reporting of all financial transactions.
- Manage and oversee General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Treasury accounting interfaces, and other core accounting activities.
- Establish accounting policies, procedures, controls, and closing requirements in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closing processes and ensure all accounting activities are completed accurately within approved timelines.
- Review and approve journal entries, accruals, provisions, prepayments, reclassifications, reconciliations, and other significant accounting adjustments.
- Ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of General Ledger accounts with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Inventory, Treasury, Payroll, and other sub-ledgers.
- Review financial account reconciliations, investigate material variances and unusual balances, and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
- Oversee Accounts Payable activities, including supplier invoice processing, supplier reconciliations, payment support, aging, and resolution of outstanding items.
- Oversee Accounts Receivable activities, including customer invoicing, receipt allocation, reconciliations, aging, collections support, and resolution of disputed balances.
- Oversee Fixed Asset accounting, including additions, transfers, capitalization, depreciation, disposals, physical verification, and reconciliation with the General Ledger.
- Coordinate with Cost Accounting to ensure accurate manufacturing cost, inventory valuation, production accounting, standard costing, and cost variance information.
- Review accounting treatment for inventory, work-in-progress, finished goods, production variances, scrap, rework, provisions, and other manufacturing-related transactions.
- Ensure proper accounting treatment and compliance for VAT, withholding tax, foreign currency transactions, provisions, accruals, and other applicable tax/accounting matters.
- Review intercompany transactions, balances, confirmations, and reconciliations and ensure differences are resolved within agreed timelines.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, applicable Egyptian accounting and tax requirements, company policies, internal controls, and statutory requirements.
- Coordinate with the Costing, Budgeting, Financial Planning and Analysis team to ensure consistency and integrity of financial data used for management reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Review monthly financial reports and provide management with explanations of significant accounting movements, variances, risks, and financial issues.
- Lead the preparation of schedules, reconciliations, confirmations, and supporting documentation required for statutory, internal, and external audits.
- Coordinate with external auditors, internal auditors, tax advisors, banks, and other financial stakeholders and ensure timely resolution of audit and accounting matters.
- Oversee the integrity of accounting master data, chart of accounts, accounting structures, financial dimensions, and relevant ERP configurations in coordination with Finance and IT.
- Ensure appropriate segregation of duties, authorization controls, approval limits, and financial control procedures are implemented across accounting activities.
- Monitor accounting processes and identify opportunities for automation, standardization, efficiency, and improvement of financial controls and reporting quality.
- Lead and develop the Accounting team, establish performance objectives, allocate responsibilities, provide technical guidance, and ensure appropriate succession and competency development.
- Monitor accounting workload, service levels, staffing requirements, and resource utilization and recommend improvements where required.
- Ensure timely resolution and escalation of critical accounting, reconciliation, reporting, tax, and control issues.
- Support financial projects, ERP implementations/upgrades, process changes, new business initiatives, and organizational improvement programs affecting accounting.
- Maintain strong coordination with operational functions to ensure business transactions are properly reflected in the accounting records.
- Provide accounting advice and financial guidance to management and other functions on accounting treatment, controls, and financial implications.
- Ensure accounting records and documentation are maintained accurately, securely, and in accordance with statutory and company retention requirements.
- Perform other financial management and accounting responsibilities assigned by the Finance Director, Financial Controller, or senior management.
Job Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
- CMA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent professional qualification is strongly preferred.
- Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is an advantage.
- Training/certification in IFRS, Egyptian taxation, financial controls, or ERP systems is preferred.
Experience
- 12–15 years of relevant experience in Accounting, Financial Reporting, General Ledger, AP/AR, or Financial Control.
- 3–5 years in a supervisory or managerial accounting position.
- Strong experience in manufacturing, automotive, local assembly, or industrial environments is strongly preferred.
- Proven experience managing month-end/year-end closing, financial reconciliations, financial reporting, internal controls, and audit activities.
- Strong exposure to manufacturing accounting, inventory, product costing, fixed assets, and operational accounting is preferred.
- Experience managing and developing accounting teams is required.
Technical Knowledge & Skills
- Advanced knowledge of financial accounting and General Ledger management.
- Strong knowledge of AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Inventory, Cost Accounting, and financial reporting processes.
- Strong understanding of month-end/year-end closing, journal entries, accruals, provisions, prepayments, reconciliations, and financial adjustments.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and applicable Egyptian accounting and tax requirements.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing accounting, including inventory, WIP, finished goods, production variances, scrap, rework, and cost absorption.
- Strong knowledge of internal controls, segregation of duties, audit requirements, and financial governance.
- Experience with Oracle EBS Financials; Oracle is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Oracle General Ledger, Payables, Receivables, Fixed Assets, Cash Management, and Cost Management integration is an advantage.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial analysis, PivotTables, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Strong financial reporting and analytical capabilities.
- Knowledge of ERP controls, financial master data, workflows, and system-based accounting processes.
- Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting interfaces.
- Excellent English communication, presentation, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
