Overview

Within the Chief Risk Office, Credit Risk Management oversees the credit risks associated with these products. The function independently assesses transactions, monitors portfolios, advances risk-measurement practices, and helps maintain a strong, bank-wide risk culture across credit, market, operational, enterprise, and liquidity risk.

What You’ll Do
Manage a portfolio focused on recourse commercial real estate transactions within the Wealth Management division
Partner directly with Relationship Managers and product specialists -and, where required, with clients- to understand credit requirements and optimize risk structures. Provide detailed risk analysis, communicate decisions promptly and transparently and clearly document approval conditions
Monitor the portfolio to identify emerging risks promptly and assess how global, regional, and local market events could affect individual exposures and the portfolio as a whole. Maintain satisfactory portfolio quality by managing risk concentrations and limits within approved risk appetite and in accordance with applicable policies and regulations
Work with both internal and external auditors to ensure that audits progress smoothly and any issues raised are resolved promptly. Support any ad hoc projects assigned
Maintain strong credit and operational discipline by ensuring that trades are properly booked and recorded, covenants and conditions are monitored on time, credit terms are documented accurately, and risk-reporting systems contain complete, timely, and accurate information

Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to colleagues at different levels of seniority, strengthening the team’s commercial real estate expertise and supporting continued professional growth
Set clear objectives and strategic priorities for yourself and assigned resources, ensuring alignment with departmental and bank-wide goals
Drive continuous improvement in processes, analytics, and reporting capabilities
Skills You’ll Need
Extensive relevant experience in commercial real estate, including recourse analysis, together with strong analytical skills and experience in corporate credit risk assessment
Understanding of a broad range of Wealth Management investment, lending, and derivative products
Familiarity with legal documentation and credit-risk considerations, including risk-mitigation features
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce concise, decision-ready credit reports
An open mindset and respect for constructive challenge and differing stakeholder perspectives
Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimize workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs

Team-oriented, flexible, and self-motivated, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality work

Preferred qualification: a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, mathematics, economics, statistics, finance, or a related field; an MBA is also valued
Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimize workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs
Expectations
It is the Bank’s expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the New York office in accordance with the Bank’s hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in New York City is $125,000 to $222,500. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of remuneration.
