Join our Forensic and Specialist Transitions team! This is not your typical support role, you will join a trauma informed, psychologically aware team, working under the guidance of a dedicated Service Coordinator to deliver a specialist, evidence-based model of support that empowers, uplifts and has been shown to make a lasting difference.

About the Role

You will work alongside another team member to provide 1:1 person‑centred active support to a male participant living with multiple and complex mental health challenges. Your role is to build trust, safety and routine while supporting him to grow in independence and confidence.

You’ll be part of a trauma‑informed, psychologically aware team, guided by a dedicated leader, delivering a specialist, evidence‑based model of support that truly transforms lives.

This includes:

  • Supporting daily routines and skill-building as she transitions into community living
  • Responding to emotions and behaviours of concern with compassion, consistency and professionalism
  • Encouraging independence through, community access, goings for drives, fun activities and more
  • Implementing Behaviour Support Plans and contributing to safety and risk assessments
  • Promoting dignity, choice, empowerment and hope in every interaction

About You

You bring a calm presence, resilience and a genuine passion for people living with complex psychological needs. You are grounded, self-aware and able to hold space for strong emotions being freely expressed.

You are someone who can:

  • Listen deeply and respond with empathy
  • Foster trust and build authentic relationships whilst maintaining a non-judgemental approach
  • Stay composed in high-pressure situations
  • Validate and support emotional expression
  • Promote safety and routine while building capacity
  • Be a consistent, respectful and reliable presence
  • Maintain clear and consistent professional boundaries

Ideal candidates may have:

  • Experience in mental health, disability support work, psychosocial disability or complex behaviour support or a keen interest in learning and growing your skills!
  • Background in disability support work, mental health, allied health, psychology, community services or similar (students and under-grads welcome)
  • Understanding of trauma informed care, or a willingness to learn more.
  • Confidence with risk management, safety protocols, and incident reporting
  • Availability for a variety of shifts, including weekends and overnights

What You’ll Need to Thrive in This Role

  • NDIS Worker Screening
  • Working with Children Check
  • A current Driver’s License
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certificates
  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability/Aged Care) or similar qualification (we also welcome applicants without qualifications)
