Job Description
Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Software Engineering Manager - Level 3 to serve as an Engineering Lead and Department Manager for the Central Region Software, Electronics, and Payloads organization within Alabama Engineering. This position will be a dual role with approximately 30% functional and 70% program responsibilities.
The successful candidate will:
Manage an organization of >100 multidisciplinary employees
Serve as primary Engineering liaison to a Program Manager with oversight of team execution, staffing, indirect budgets, and process changes
Be responsible for daily communication, performance assessment, development, and recognition of direct reports and subordinate sections
Develop high performing teams with strong levels of engagement including mentoring and coaching
Assist the AL Engineering Director with technology initiatives, employee engagement, staffing projections, and support of new business acquisitions
Responsible for program scope aligning to skills and experience
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree with 10 years of experience, or Master's Degree with 6 years or PhD with 4 years. Science in Software Engineering, System Engineering, or related discipline
10+ years of experience in any combination of engineering disciplines accompanied by high proficiency in technical problem solving
Active DoD Secret security clearance
Must have minimum of three years proven technical and personnel management experience through program IPT, R&D, or functional environments
Preferred Qualifications:
Master of Science in a STEM discipline
Knowledge and experience with Missile Defense Systems
Experience managing technical teams with budgetary responsibility
Proven performance as an Engineering Leader in all phases of acquisition, design, integration, and execution. Candidate will require ability to rapidly assess and lend guidance to projects assigned to the organizational group as well as demonstrated mentoring and guidance to engineers
Working knowledge and/or experience across engineering disciplines
Familiarity with Agile engineering principles
Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work within a diverse team

Primary Level Salary Range: $184,300.00 - $276,500.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
