Overview
HarperCollins Publishers is seeking a highly motivated Rights Coordinator to join an exciting group of Rights professionals selling subsidiary rights across the General Books divisions. Under general supervision, the Rights Coordinator will support their manager and the wider department through a combination of administrative responsibilities and the submission, negotiation, and sale of translation rights in select foreign territories.
This role is based in New York City and operates on a hybrid work model that includes both in-office and remote work.
Responsibilities
- Under general supervision, supports all titles in Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, and direct translation markets
- Assists in the soliciting of top General Books titles to a curated list of publishers in the above territories.
- Maintain and update publisher contact databases for assigned markets.
- Coordinate with the Royalties department to track all payments in these territories.
- Support seasonal title presentations and virtual meetings to promote key General Books titles.
- Administrative Support for Assigned Imprints
- Provide administrative support to the supervisor and rights team across the William Morrow, Mariner, Avon, and Voyager imprints.
- Coordinate production file requests from domestic and international licensees.
- Attend and participate in client pitch meetings.
- Respond to Rights-related inquiries from internal departments and external partners.
- Process licensee approvals and maintain related documentation.
- Prepare and process invoices.
- Assist with the planning and logistics for annual international book fairs.
- Departmental Support
- Support the broader General Books Rights Department with ongoing administrative and reporting needs.
- Coordinate monthly author reversion requests and conduct related research.
- Maintain and update UK editorial title list.
- Prepare translation renewal reporting biannually and sanction reporting quarterly.
- Assist with organizing departmental files, records, and mailroom materials.
Qualifications
- 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience
- 2-3 years of experience in publishing rights licensing
- Hybrid work schedule (3 days/week in office).
- Extremely organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize a large volume of work
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to set priorities under pressure and to work independently
- Passionate about learning the business-side of the publishing industry
- Genuine interest in licensing and book publishing

The salary for this position is $55,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company.
