Description

About This Opportunity

Join a collaborative, supportive and purpose-driven Student Experience team within the Faculty of Science. As the Senior Student Experience Officer, you will play a key role in shaping the student experience at UQ's Gatton Campus, delivering initiatives that foster transition, connection and belonging for a growing and diverse student community.

Based in the heart of UQ's regional campus, you will work closely with students, academic and professional staff, residential colleges, schools and central student services to create engaging experiences that help students thrive both academically and personally. Supporting a unique mix of school leavers, regional and rural students, residential college residents, commuters and international students, you'll have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships and make a visible impact on campus life every day.

This varied and hands-on role offers the chance to contribute to one of Australia's most distinctive university communities. From coordinating orientation and transition programs to creating opportunities for students to connect, belong and succeed, you'll help shape experiences that have a lasting impact. Whether you're seeking a tree change, looking for greater work-life balance, or are motivated by making a genuine difference in students' lives, you'll enjoy being part of a welcoming rural community where collaboration, connection and contribution are valued. This role provides the opportunity to build a rewarding career while enjoying the unique combination of a close-knit rural community and a world-class university environment.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver student experience events and programs to support transition, orientation and belonging, including planning, approvals, set-up, pack-down and evaluation.

  • Build strong relationships with students, staff and stakeholders across the University to identify opportunities to enhance the student experience and strengthen campus connection.

  • Communicate with current and commencing students in an engaging and timely manner through a variety of channels including email, social media, phone and face-to-face engagement.

  • Collect, analyse and report on student experience data, while contributing to continuous improvement, operational planning and the development of future initiatives.

About You

  • Completion of a bachelor degree with subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in designing and coordinating projects to improve the student experience in a higher education environment or equivalent transferable skills.

  • Ability to work with diverse student cohorts.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise effectively with stakeholders including students and senior staff.

  • Strong organisational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritise own workload, meet deadlines and work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Ability to take initiative, as well as work cooperatively and collaboratively.

  • Ability to analyse data, develop reports, draft documents and integrate information from a variety of sources in an accurate and timely manner.

  • High level of computer literacy, including the ability to learn new programs quickly.
