Job Summary: As a member Controllership team you will be responsible for managing Payroll Processing, Accounting, Compliance and all management reporting.

What You’ll Do
- End-to-end payroll expense accounting
Own monthly accounting, review, and closure for payroll-related expenses across entities/cost centers in line with accounting policy and close timelines.
Ensure accurate classification, allocation, and posting of payroll costs (salary, incentives/bonus, benefits, reimbursements, etc., as applicable).
- Payroll accruals & month-end close ownership
Prepare, validate, and post payroll accruals (salary accruals, bonus/incentive accruals, leave/benefit accruals, and other payroll provisions as applicable).
Drive month-end close activities including reconciliations, variance explanations, and timely clearance of open items.
- RSU & ESOP accounting
Manage accounting for equity-based compensation (RSU/ESOP) including expense recognition, true-ups, accruals, and reporting support.
Partner with relevant stakeholders to validate inputs, ensure completeness, and support any required disclosures/reconciliations.
- Payroll statutory compliance (accounting & controls)
Ensure statutory payroll-related compliance from a controllership perspective (e.g., accounting, documentation, reconciliations, and evidence for statutory deductions/payments).
Maintain strong process governance and control checks to ensure compliance readiness and minimize risk.
- Payroll MIS reporting & insights
Prepare and review periodic management reporting related to payroll costs, accrual movements, and key drivers.
Provide commentary and insights on trends, anomalies, and key variances for leadership consumption.
Own Cost per Head (CPH) analysis including data validation, trend analysis, and actionable insights.
Partner with Finance/Business teams to explain movements and support decision-making.
Deliver recurring MIS packs/dashboards with high accuracy and timeliness.
Standardize metrics, definitions, and reporting cadence; continuously improve data quality and usability.
- Automation & process improvement
Identify opportunities to automate accruals, reconciliations, and MIS reporting (e.g., workflow improvements, template standardization, dashboarding).
Lead automation projects end-to-end: requirements, testing/validation, controls, documentation, and stakeholder adoption.
- Audit support & compliance readiness
Act as primary controllership POC for internal/external audit requests related to payroll, accruals, and equity compensation.
Ensure timely evidence submission, issue resolution, and closure of audit observations with sustainable corrective actions.
- Stakeholder management & cross-functional coordination
Coordinate with Payroll Operations, HR, Tax, FP&A, and other Finance teams to ensure accurate inputs, timely close, and issue resolution.
Manage escalations, drive alignment on timelines, and ensure clear communication of outcomes/risks.
- Documentation & SOP ownership
Maintain SOPs, process notes, control checklists, and RCM/supporting documentation for all key activities.
Ensure knowledge continuity and robust handovers to reduce key-person dependency.
What You’ll bring
- CA/CPA/CMA or equivalent professional qualification and Bachelor’s or master’s in commerce, finance, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in accounting, financial control, or related domain, ideally in a multinational or large Indian company.
- Strong knowledge of Indian GAAP, IND AS/IFRS, tax regulations, and statutory compliance.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, financial ERP systems (SAP/Oracle/others), and automation tools.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with audit coordination, statutory filings, and risk management.
- Strong leadership capabilities and ability to drive process improvements across teams.
