Department Overview
The Core Platform and Services team is responsible for the development and operations of critical cloud infrastructure, platform services, and software services in support of Motorola Solutions' public and hybrid cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions for public safety customers. This team is part of Motorola Solutions’ Command Center and Cloud Solutions division, which offers secure, reliable, and efficient team communications, workflow, and operational intelligence solutions for mission-critical public safety and enterprise markets globally.
Job Description
The project utilizes a technology stack that includes .NET, Python, and Go, with an ongoing effort to migrate our Python codebase to Go. REST and gRPC are employed for communication between services. The project uses various Kubernetes techniques including headless services and custom scaling mechanism utilizing Kubernetes API. We are looking for a passionate Engineer, a Problem Solver to join the CPS Drive team. Your responsibilities will include:
Influence and create new designs, software, architecture, and methods for deploying large-scale distributed systems
Be a contributing member of the teams that define the technical approach, system and software architecture.
Learn and deeply understand the range of Motorola Solutions internal platforms
Create a technical approach and a design for new features that span the organization
Drive new capabilities and requirements in our platforms to support new product features
Take part in a on-call rotation (one sprint on, multiple sprint off)
Basic Requirements
Over 3 years of experience in Software Development and minimum 2 years of experience in developing scalable, cloud hosted applications.
Knowledge .Net Core or Go.
Curiosity to learn, explore and improvise the systems work under the hood.
Willingness to work on any problem type - development, testing, deployment automation.
Ability to learn and quickly adapt to solve practical problems.
Effective verbal and written English communication skills.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Math or related fields or equivalent experience.
Optional/Desired Qualifications
Experience with hosting and developing applications using public cloud (Microsoft Azure or GCP or Amazon AWS) would be a plus.
Familiarity with Kubernetes.
Familiarity with Python.
Linux operating system knowledge.
