Day ShiftDescription:
The Maintenance Mechanic performs general and multi-trade preventive and corrective maintenance throughout Holy Cross Health's campus and FSED facilities. This role supports reliable operations across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems in compliance with TJC Environment of Care and Life Safety standards, contributing to the delivery of a safe, functional, and compliant environment of care.What you will do:
General Maintenance & Repairs
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on doors, hardware, ceilings, walls, floors, and general building components.
- Execute assigned work orders from CMMS accurately and within required timeframes.
- Assist trade specialists (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) with larger repair and project work.
Compliance Support
- Conduct and document assigned Environment of Care rounding tasks (fire extinguisher checks, corridor compliance, utility labeling).
- Support inspection readiness activities for TJC, CMS, and The Joint Commission surveys.
- Maintain accurate work order documentation in Brightly Worxhub CMMS.
Customer Service & Communication
- Respond to department service calls and communicate completion status to customers and supervisors.
- Maintain professional presence in patient care and clinical areas.
- Participate in shift passdown and team huddles.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma or GED required; vocational/technical training in building trades preferred
Experience: 2+ years general building maintenance experience; healthcare or commercial facility preferred
Licenses/Certifications: OSHA 10 preferred; EPA 608 (Type I or II) preferred; valid Florida driver's license
Technology/Tools: Hand tools, power tools, Brightly Worxhub CMMS, basic electrical and plumbing tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic HVAC filter change and coil cleaning experience.
- Basic plumbing repair experience (fixture replacement, drain clearing).
- Prior healthcare maintenance experience.
- Familiarity with CMMS platforms.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Physically active role requiring lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, kneeling, and climbing ladders.
- Work throughout all areas of the hospital including patient care units and mechanical spaces.
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, and various building materials — PPE required.
- On-call rotation and weekend coverage may be required.
