Functional Lead, Travel Retailing Transformation
Accenture | Australia
About the role
The Functional Lead is a senior practitioner role embedded in the Accenture delivery team on a major travel retailing transformation program based in Sydney. The role is the primary functional bridge between the client's business stakeholders, the OOSD platform vendor, and the broader delivery team. The person in this role owns the end-to-end functional workstream from requirements through to cutover, and is expected to bring the domain knowledge needed to make that work credible and accurate from day one.
What you will do
You will lead structured engagement with the client's business stakeholders across retailing, pricing, distribution, interline, and customer operations to elicit, document, and validate functional requirements. You will translate business intent into detailed process designs and user stories that the delivery team and platform vendor can act on without ambiguity.
You will work directly with the OOSD platform vendor to conduct gap analysis between the client's functional requirements and platform capability, and you will own the outcome of those discussions. Where gaps exist, you will define the options, frame the trade-offs, and drive decisions through to resolution with both the business and the vendor.
You will plan and manage the functional cutover and transition, including parallel run sequencing, business readiness checkpoints, and the handover from legacy PSS to the new Offer and Order model. You will own the functional component of the cutover plan and work with the technical and testing teams to ensure it is executable.
You will produce and maintain the core functional artefacts throughout the program, including business process designs, functional specifications, fit-gap registers, and cutover run books.
What you will bring
You have deep operations knowledge across the following domains: fares and pricing, distribution and NDC, interline and codeshare, retailing and merchandising, or reservations and ticketing. You have worked inside a carrier or a PSS vendor in a hands-on functional capacity, not in an advisory role at a distance from operations.
You have direct experience with PSS platforms, and you understand how legacy PSS functions map to modern Offer and Order constructs. You are familiar with IATA One Order and NDC standards at a working level, not just conceptually.
You have produced requirements documentation, business process maps, and fit-gap analysis in a formal program delivery context. You are comfortable presenting functional positions to business stakeholders and defending them when challenged.
