Description
- Assist the Lead Instructor with the implementation of youth basketball clinics, drills, activities, and games.
- Provide individual and small-group instruction based on lesson plans developed by the Lead Instructor.
- Demonstrate age-appropriate basketball fundamentals, including dribbling, passing, shooting, defense, and teamwork.
- Help prepare the program space and organize, distribute, and store equipment.
- Supervise participants and promote appropriate behavior, sportsmanship, inclusion, and active participation.
- Inspect facilities and equipment for potential hazards and promptly report safety concerns or needed repairs to the Lead Instructor.
- Follow established safety rules, policies, and procedures. Assist with completing accident and incident reports when necessary.
- Communicate positively and professionally with participants, parents, coworkers, and members of the public.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Experience participating in, coaching, or instructing basketball or another youth athletic program is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of basketball rules, skills, and instructional techniques.
- Ability to follow lesson plans and direction provided by the Lead Instructor and Recreation Coordinator.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work positively with youth, parents, and staff.
- Must successfully complete a background check.
- Must be dependable and available to work scheduled evenings and weekends.
- Physical ability to demonstrate basketball skills and occasionally lift, push, pull, or transport equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
