What you’ll be doing...

Verizon innovates constantly to help people live better lives with our technology solutions and we apply the same vision and focus to the way we do business. This includes the way we protect our people and our business. As a Senior Investigator for the Corporate Security Incident Response Team, you’ll be assigned to a market covering all Verizon assets to evaluate risks and protect personnel, critical infrastructures, workplace violence and organized retail crime. You will lead all criminal incidents involving employees, assets and infrastructure. You will also produce thorough investigative reports to aid in case resolution. Acting as a trusted advisor at all levels, the business will be reliant upon your expertise to reduce and control losses and protect our employees and assets.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring employee and customer safety across the enterprise and respond to active criminal threats of physical violence internally and externally.

  • Being the primary liaison between Verizon and local, state, federal and international law enforcement agencies and associations.

  • Conducting independent and objective investigations, the results of which are used by the business, HR and Legal that affect Verizon’s interests.

  • Responding to emergency and exigent incidents to collaborate with local teams and law enforcement to ensure employees are safe, scene is secured, and the information flow and evidence is protected.

  • Identifying and reporting on intelligence of emerging trends and threats that could impact the safety of Verizon Assets.

  • Performing threat assessments and providing recommendations to reduce Verizon’s exposure to theft, loss, risk, and violence.

  • Developing investigative plans, gathering and evaluating facts, conducting investigative interviews, and writing investigative reports that are used by Legal, Labor Relations, Employee Relations, and Human Resources to make disciplinary decisions and/or are used by law enforcement to support criminal investigation and prosecution.

  • Coordinating and leading response to incidents that affect Verizon's critical network infrastructure, including sabotage, vandalism, and theft.

  • Collaborating internally with Supply Chain teams, externally with vendors and law enforcement to prevent, detect, investigate, and implement corrective measures for theft and cargo loss within the supply chain (both internal and external).

  • Identifying, investigating, and mitigating organized retail crime, including conducting surveillance, gathering intelligence, building cases for and collaborating with law enforcement and internal teams.

  • Reviewing brand protection with Verizon Indirect, Value Segment, and National Retail, to identify criminal theft trends affecting Verizon assets.

  • Assisting Verizon Corporate Protection Operation by providing executive protection, managing logistics, advance operations, securing transportation as needed, when the Principal(s) travel.

  • Supporting the Corporate Protection Operations team when necessary during Special Events.

This is a field based position in the Los Angeles area where field presence is required up to 50% of the time.  The remaining time can be spent working from home.  Candidates must reside within 30 miles of downtown LA.

What we’re looking for...

Analyzing situations to understand root causes and communicating your assessment comes easily to you. As a multi-tasker, you thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment where your organizational and time management skills are needed. You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and enjoy working with other teams to implement Corporate Security plans and identify risks on a 24/7/365 basis to include participating in an on call rotation.

You’ll need to have:

  • Four or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through work experience and/or military experience.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Experience recognizing and evaluating facts to objectively analyze situations.

  • Experience with Google Office Suite and MS Office Suite (Word, Docs, Excel, Sheets, PowerPoint, etc.).

  • Strong project management skills with a proven track record of managing complex projects from inception to completion.

  • Experience prioritizing multiple responsibilities and processing high volumes of work in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Experience writing investigative reports.

  • Ability to travel within LA territory up to 50% of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • CFI, CFE, CPP, LPQ, or LPC professional qualification.

  • Highly developed critical thinking and reasoning skills.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills in order to write concise and factual investigative reports.

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.
