Who We Are Looking For

The Sustainable Investing Strategist supports the development and execution of the firm's sustainable investing strategy, working closely with investment teams, clients, product specialists, marketing, legal and compliance, and senior stakeholders.

The role helps identify and assess emerging sustainable investing trends and market opportunities while keeping abreast of relevant laws and regulations, translating these developments into actionable insights for clients and internal stakeholders.

The individual contributes to the firm's thought leadership agenda by helping develop and articulate the firm's perspectives on sustainable investing topics, market developments, and industry trends.

The position requires a combination of strategic thinking, subject matter expertise, client engagement, thought leadership, and strong cross-functional collaboration to help advance the firm's sustainable investing capabilities and deliver commercially relevant, client-focused solutions.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Engage with clients as a primary sustainable investing subject matter expert, providing strategic insights across regulatory, market, and investment-related topics.
  • Represent the firm's sustainable investing positioning, strategic priorities, and capabilities with clients across investment research, investment strategies, products, and reporting and analytics capabilities.
  • Partner with clients to help them navigate evolving sustainable investing priorities and achieve their investment and sustainability-related objectives.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on sustainable investing-related regulations, industry developments, and market practices, staying attuned to the evolving landscape and implications for State Street IM and its clients.
  • Maintain a broad understanding of State Street IM's sustainable investing capabilities, including specific products and solutions as well as the sustainable investing philosophies and approaches of investment teams across the firm.
  • Build strong relationships across the organization and collaborate closely with sustainable investing peers and stakeholders across investments, distribution, regulatory, product, marketing, and other partner teams.
  • Lead and coordinate sustainable investing-related RFP and DDQ responses for the assigned region, providing subject matter expertise and ensuring responses are accurate, current, and consistent.
  • Contribute to the firm's thought leadership platform and help shape the research agenda on key sustainable investing themes, trends, and market developments.
  • Represent State Street IM at client events, industry conferences, working groups, and other external forums, as appropriate.

Experience & Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in asset management, investment management, investment research, strategy, consulting, or a related field, including experience in sustainable investing and knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Significant experience in a client-facing role, with strong communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.
  • Strong collaborator who works effectively across functions and understands the complexities of operating within a large, global organization.
  • Self-starter who is motivated, results-oriented, and able to thrive in a dynamic and entrepreneurial team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex topics and communicate them clearly to a range of audiences, including clients and senior stakeholders.
  • Travel may be required.

Education

  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Sustainability, or a related field.

Salary Range:

$120,000 - $202,500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
