Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Insurance Billing Coordinator. - Boca Raton, FL.
The Insurance Billing Coordinator position supports the mission of Student Health Services through the management of health service applications and revenue cycle, claims processing and investigation, development of new policies and procedures, and other job-related duties as needed. The Florida Atlantic Student Health Services division heals, cares, and educates, empowering students to thrive.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Supervise Health Services applications and revenue cycle needs within the electronic health records system (Point n Click) and other systems utilized by the SHS clinic.
Verify patients’ insurance eligibility and benefits prior to appointment to determine coverage and network participation. Communicate insurance acceptance and coverage information to students and clinic staff, as appropriate.
Review insurance claims for completeness and accuracy with the electronic health record, ensuring the appropriate billing options have been selected and required documentation is available to support claim processing.
Post payments and process account updates in electronic health records
Respond to student inquiries regarding insurance benefits, billing, account balances, and other charge-related questions. Research billing concerns and assist with resolving account discrepancies, as appropriate.
Assist with investigating claim status and payment activity by responding to requests for claim-related documentation, researching account activity, and providing the necessary information to facilitate claim processing and payment verification, as needed.
Utilize Medicat system to upload immunization documents and assist students with using the system.
Run reports from electronic health records and other systems to support department key performance metrics. This involves collecting and displaying information on a variety of departmental functions, with historical comparisons, to inform management decisions, strategic planning, and other leadership team functions.
Assist with the development and implementation of business policies and procedures to ensure full compliance with accounting principles and insurance regulations.
Coordinate and assist with special accounting business documents and financials.
Assist with researching and analyzing business documents and financials.
Serve as a backup to support the front desk operations, as needed
Comply with federal, state, and university regulations and statutes, as well as internal policies and procedures.
Works to foster and maintain a collaborative, engaging, and positive work environment for all students and staff.
Participate in assessment, accreditation, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance.
Participate in activities, like outreach events, tabling, and flu clinics, both internal and external to SHS, in order to champion the health of the college student population, advance the mission of SHS, and support the missions of the Division of Student Affairs and Florida Atlantic University.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
