Reporting Analyst

Overview

 

The Reporting Analyst supports Project Controls by collecting, validating, analyzing, and communicating project performance information across cost, schedule, risk, deliverables, and resource management functions for an assigned project. The role develops and maintains dashboards, reports, and analytics that provide the project team and leadership with timely, accurate, and actionable insights to support decision-making.

 

Your role

 

• Develop, maintain, and enhance Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualizations for project performance reporting.
• Collect, validate, consolidate, and analyze data from project controls systems and other approved data sources.
• Support weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reporting requirements for the assigned project, project management team, and executive leadership.
• Monitor data quality and perform data validation, health checks, and reconciliation activities to ensure reporting accuracy and consistency.
• Generate schedule, cost, risk, deliverable, resource, and performance metrics and key performance indicator reporting.
• Produce dashboards and scorecards that track project health, trends, forecasts, milestones, and performance indicators.
• Collaborate with project controls, planning, risk, engineering, and project management stakeholders to develop and maintain reporting solutions that support project objectives.
• Develop and maintain reporting templates, datasets, data models, calculation logic, and supporting documentation.
• Support data automation and process improvement initiatives that increase reporting efficiency, reliability, and consistency.
• Analyze reporting results to identify trends, anomalies, data gaps, risks, and items requiring management attention.
• Prepare executive presentations, management reports, project review materials, and project health dashboards.
• Support Earned Value Management and broader project controls processes through reporting and analytics activities.
• Maintain reporting governance standards, data integrity controls, reporting calendars, and documented procedures.
• Prepare custom analyses, reporting extracts, and special assignments as requested by project leadership.

• Works under general supervision while managing recurring project reporting deliverables.
• Serves as a reporting and analytics resource to the Project Controls team and project leadership.
• Maintains project reporting tools, dashboards, data models, and reporting processes.
• Supports continuous improvement initiatives focused on reporting efficiency, automation, data quality, and visualization standards.
• Participates in the enhancement and implementation of project controls systems, reporting solutions, and analytics capabilities.
• Provides analytical support to project reviews, performance assessments, and executive reporting activities.

 

About you

 

• Bachelor's degree, college diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Two to five years of experience in project reporting, project controls, business intelligence, data analytics, or a related field.
• Experience using Power BI, Excel, Power Query, and related reporting or analytical tools.
• Experience working with large datasets and consolidating information from different data sources.
• Experience supporting engineering, construction, nuclear, infrastructure, or major capital project environments is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of project controls principles, including schedule, cost, risk, progress, and performance reporting.
• Understanding of KPI development, dashboard design, data visualization, and reporting best practices.
• Familiarity with systems such as EcoSys, Primavera P6, Oracle, SAP, or similar project management systems is considered an asset.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to translate complex project data into clear and practical insights.
