The Brattleboro Food Co-op is looking for a Receiver II to help with incoming inventory!

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Unload and verify all deliveries (piece count, mispicks, damage inspection), and scan designated products into the POS system
  • Ability to operate equipment such as hand trucks, u-boats, pallet jack, cardboard baler, and plastic baler
  • Sign for deliveries and note any discrepancies on invoices
  • Separate damaged or incorrect product for returns
  • Ensure products are moved to appropriate departments within time windows (20 minutes for refrigerated/frozen items)
  • Build u-boats and carts for department staff
  • Maintain receiving area cleanliness and safety (daily sweeping, seasonal maintenance)
  • Coordinate cardboard bale pickups
  • Maintain equipment (hand trucks, u-boats, pallet jacks)
  • Assist customers with product questions during assigned shift
  • Support with the movement of backstock product and merchandising fixtures to and from offsite location(s)
  • Deliver invoices with products to appropriate departments
  • Report any receiving discrepancies, equipment issues, or safety concerns to Receiving Manager
  • Process electronic and paper invoices in the POS system as assigned

Maintenance and Conditioning: 

  • Treat equipment with care and respect. 
  • Communicate about any needed repairs or equipment problems to the Manager
  • Keep work area neat and organized

Safety:

  • Handle hazardous equipment carefully. Aware of the presence of others when using such equipment.
  • Use proper lifting techniques. Wear appropriate shoes.
  • Mindful of potential hazards to customers and other employees and takes actions to correct hazards.
  • Use ergonomic equipment and best practices
  • Report any and all safety concerns to manager

Teamwork:

  • Always conscientious about co-workers and works with the team for department efficiency.
  • Give verbal communication to next shift if necessary 
  • Start work on time, finish work on time.
  • Take breaks when appropriate and come back from break on time.

Accountability:

  • Accept responsibility for your actions. Exemplify honesty, integrity and ethics


Requirements

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs continuously
  • Physical capability to bend, squat, stoop, kneel, and crouch throughout shift
  • Comfort working in walk-in coolers/freezers and seasonal temperature variations
  • Strong attention to detail for order verification
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious
  • Friendly and cooperative demeanor with customers and coworkers
  • Ability to work efficiently and handle multiple demands during peak receiving windows
