Description

We don’t just believe in better. We make it happen.

Better content. Better products. And better careers.

Working in Tech, Product or Data at Sky is about building the next and the new. From broadband to broadcast, streaming to mobile, Sky Stream to Sky Glass, we never stand still. We optimise and innovate. We turn big ideas into the products, content and services millions of people love. And we do it all right here at Sky.

This is a fixed-term contract role until January 2027.

Role/Team overview

Sky creates and delivers brilliant content and customer experiences across television, streaming and digital platforms. Within Content eXperience & Distribution, Platform QA provides a vital final quality checkpoint, checking how content appears and performs across Sky services before and after release.

The team combines structured quality assurance, customer-focused testing and clear operational reporting. By finding issues early, assessing their impact and driving effective escalation, Platform QA helps protect the viewing experience across Sky Q, Sky+, Sky Glass and Sky Stream, Sky Go and NOW.

We are seeking enthusiastic and customer-focused individuals to join Platform QA, a team within Content eXperience & Distribution. As a Platform Quality Assurance Operator, you will assess on-demand and OTT content across multiple platforms and devices to confirm it is available, accurate, discoverable and plays as expected.

This is a hands-on operational role for someone who combines excellent attention to detail with sound judgement, clear communication and a genuine interest in content and technology. You will investigate defects, record evidence, communicate customer impact and work with operational and technical teams to support resolution.

No two shifts are exactly the same. One moment you may be checking a priority release on Sky Glass; the next you may be investigating a search, metadata, subtitle, imagery or playback issue across Sky Q, Sky Go or NOW. The role offers practical experience across content operations, streaming services, incident management and customer experience assurance.

What you'll do:

  • Carry out structured quality assurance checks on VOD, OTT and selected linear content across supported Sky and NOW platforms and devices.

  • Validate content availability, search and navigation pathways, metadata, imagery, classifications, pricing where applicable, subtitles, audio, video playback and expected formats.

  • Assess content from the customer’s point of view, identifying issues that affect discovery, presentation, playback or overall ease of use.

  • Work to release schedules and priority lists, giving appropriate focus to high-profile, time-critical and business-priority content.

  • Investigate findings using available operational tools and evidence, distinguishing isolated defects from wider platform or content issues.

  • Raise, update and track incidents or defects through the agreed workflow, clearly describing the issue, affected services, customer impact and supporting evidence.

  • Escalate issues promptly to the correct operational, editorial, technical or third-party support teams and retain ownership until the next action or resolution is clear.

  • Produce accurate, concise reports, RAG updates and shift handovers that give stakeholders trusted visibility of service quality and outstanding risk.

  • Support checks for new products, platform changes, applications and workflows, providing practical feedback on functionality and customer experience.

  • Contribute to trend identification, weekly reporting, process documentation and continuous improvement across the end-to-end content workflow.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of team processes, tools, devices and platform behaviours, completing required training and sharing learning with colleagues.

  • Work collaboratively across Platform Control, Media Logistics, Metadata Operations, Engineering, Stills, product teams and content partners as required.

What you'll bring:

Essential Criteria

  • Excellent attention to detail and a consistent, methodical approach to quality checking.

  • Demonstrable written and verbal communication skills, with experience explaining technical or content-related issues in plain English.

  • Experience organising and prioritising multiple tasks in a fast-paced, time-critical environment.

  • Demonstrable experience taking ownership of issues, investigating problems and following actions through to resolution.

  • Experience working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders across different teams to achieve shared outcomes.

  • Good general IT skills, with experience using and learning new systems, tools, applications and devices.

  • Demonstrable customer-focused approach, sound judgement and experience producing accurate and reliable reports or updates.

  • Flexibility and willingness to work the role's rotating shift pattern supporting a 24-hour, seven-day operation.

Desirable skills

  • Experience in quality assurance, broadcast operations, content operations, service monitoring or a technical support environment.

  • Understanding of DTH, OTT, IPTV or VOD services and the way content is delivered across different platforms.

  • Knowledge of metadata, imagery, subtitling, accessibility, audio/video formats or content merchandising.

  • Experience using incident management, workflow tracking, reporting or dashboard tools.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.

  • Awareness of Sky products, NOW and competitor streaming services.
