A Day in the Life:

JOB SUMMARY

Oversee and manage payroll processing and vendors services for Japan and any additional countries assigned

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Manage end-to-end monthly payroll processing for Japan employees through outsourced payroll vendors.

· Review and validate payroll calculations from outsourced payroll vendors, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, bonuses, commissions, allowances, leave records, and overtime payments.

· Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on schedule in compliance with Japan Labor Standards Act, Income Tax Act, Local Tax Act / Bylaws, Social Insurance regulations, and company policies.

· Work with payroll vendor and Finance on statutory filings and payments, including income tax withholding, resident tax, social insurance, labor insurance, and year-end tax adjustment

· Maintain payroll documentation, audit trails, and records in accordance with company policies and local regulatory requirements.

· Assist in internal and external audits and provide payroll-related documentation as required.

· Provide payroll support for additional countries within the APAC region as the scope of the role expands.

To Land This Role:

EDUCATION & PRIOR EXPERIENCE

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline preferred. Equivalent payroll administration experience will also be considered.

· 8+ years of payroll administration experience, handling Japan payroll for multinational companies.

· Strong knowledge of Japan payroll legislation, labor laws, tax regulations, social insurance, labor insurance, and year-end tax adjustment

· Experience managing outsourced payroll vendors

· Experience with payroll systems such as Workday, SAP, Jobcan is preferred

· Excellent-level Japanese and business-level English communication skills, both written and verbal.

· Independent, detail-oriented with the ability to manage confidential information and multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
