Anglers and writers consistently tout Eleven Mile’s large reservoir for its outstanding fishing. When not reeling in a trophy rainbow, brown, cutthroat, kokanee, or pike, there are nearly five miles of scenic hiking and biking trails that await exploration. World-class gold medal trout fishing awaits you at Spinney Mountain Reservoir. It would be hard to find any that is better in such a peaceful and scenic setting.

AQUATIC NUISANCE SPECIES INSPECTOR: EMPLOYMENT STARTS FROM ICE OFF (APRIL or MAY) THROUGH OCTOBER 31st, Positions at Eleven Mile and Spinney Mountain State Parks. A customer service based position that involves inspecting for invasive Zebra/Quagga Mussels, and other invasive plant/animal species on boats and personal watercraft at an inspection point on the park. This is an important position for the protection of natural resources from non-native species that threaten wildlife, drinking water/irrigation and all water related outdoor recreation in the State of Colorado. Daily interaction with park visitors requires effective communication and public relations skills. Specific duties include but are not limited to:
  • Staff the park ANS (aquatic nuisance species) inspection station.
  • Conduct physical boat inspections and boater interviews.
  • Provide information and assistance to the boating public (distributes brochures, promotes ANS education, educates about State Park regulations, etc.)
  • Cleaning and light maintenance duties of interior and exterior of ANS inspection areas. Including maintenance of facilities and grounds.
  • Accurate counting and recording of all boat inspections, either written or by phone application software.
  • May document and report visitor complaints
  • Up to 40 hours per week.
  • Other duties as assigned.
INTERPRETER: EMPLOYMENT STARTS FROM MAY THROUGH APPROX SEPTEMBER 11th, at Eleven Mile State Park. A customer based position that involves facilitating park interpretive and environmental education programs. Develop and present natural resources/historical related programs to park visitors. Specific duties may include, but not limited to:  Schedule, plan and present Junior Ranger programs.
  • Schedule, plan and present school and group programs.
  • Schedule, plan and present campfire programs and guided hikes.
  • Schedule, plan and present outreach programs.
  • Provide roving interpretation in campgrounds and day use areas.
  • Work with individual and group volunteers.
  • May train volunteer naturalists.
  • Work with other State, Federal and local agency naturalists.
  • Market and promote attendance at programs.
  • May develop brochures and other written materials.
  • May assist with special events or programs within the park.
  • Collect, catalog, organize and protect park collections of slides, photographs, specimens.
  • Attend assigned training sessions.
  • Up to 40 hours per week.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PARK MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN: EMPLOYMENT STARTS APPROX. MARCH, APRIL, or MAY and goes to SEPTEMBER 11th, depending on position. Responsible for all general park maintenance and cleaning of public facilities, including restrooms, showers, vault toilets, campsites, picnic areas, trails, etc.

  • Operates and performs routine maintenance on state-owned vehicles and equipment
  • Assures quality customer service and facility maintenance, repair, and cleanliness
  • Provides information and assistance to visitors
  • May assist with carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work, and transporting
  • materials and supplies
  • Performs other duties as assigned



ANS Inspection Technician Specific Requirements:

  • Must be 16 years of age or Older.

  • Must possess a current and valid driver's license and/or have reliable transportation to
    and from work location.

  • Must be willing to work outside, sometimes in inclement weather.

  • Ability to work with little supervision and work well within a team.

  • Must be able to climb in and out of vessels, and under trailers.

  • Part-Time and shifts and up to 40 hours per week available. 

  • May be required to work at a station for an 8-hour shift and take lunch in the station.


Interpreter Specific Requirements:
  • Must be 18 years of age or Older.
  • Must possess a current and valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation to get to and from work location, and you must have 2 years of driving history and be able to pass a Driving History Check to drive a State Vehicle for the job.
  • First Aid and CPR certifications may be required.
  • Must be self-motivated, be an accomplished public speaker and have good writing skills.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Certified Interpretive Guide (CIG) certification desirable.
  • Must be willing to work outside, sometimes in inclement weather.
  • Up to 40 hours per week.


Maintenance Technician Specific Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or Older
  • Must be willing to work outside, sometimes in inclement weather
  • Must possess a current and valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation to and from work location and must have 2 years of driving history and be able to pass a Driving History Check to drive State Vehicles for the job.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly during the course of a workday.
  • Knowledge of power tools and hand tools preferred.
  • Knowledge of small engine and other equipment maintenance and repair preferred.
  • Part-Time and shifts, up to 40 hours per week available.

  • To be compliant with the new fleet vehicle policy, Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs) will be pulled for review for workers who: 
  • Have an assigned State fleet vehicle
  • Are required to operate a vehicle as part of the position
  • Utilize a State fleet vehicle as a pool vehicle
