Surgery Scheduler

Job Description:

Responsible for registering and scheduling patients at Intermountain Health facilities system-wide, ensuring that processes and procedures exceed customer expectations. Acts as a liaison between the provider’s office and facility.

Schedule - Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm

Essential Functions

• Maintains the surgery schedule, providing necessary information to patients and providers
• Conducts patient pre-certification for insurance approval for appointments and medical care
• Coordinates and ensures necessary equipment is ordered, room availability, pre-surgery medication is arranged prior to scheduled procedure
• Communicates detailed information and answers patient’s questions regarding surgery preparation instructions arrival/departure instructions
• Schedules any necessary follow up appointments as directed by provider
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in a health care organization

Preferred Qualifications

• Two years of related experience in a health care organization is preferred
• Experience with Electronic health record
• Experience with insurance companies
• Strong experience with hospital surgery scheduling
• Experience with insurance verification and authorizations

Physical Requirements

• Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
• Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
• Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate supplies and equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc.
• For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. 

$22.39 - $34.06
