OVERVIEW
JOB TITLE:Virtual Reality Lab Manager
LOCATION: St. Paul PAY RATE: 16.50 per hourHOURS: TBD
Job Summary: Manage lab space and scheduling, Virtual Reality hardware (MetaQuest 2 and 3) and software
Keep the headsets charged and ready, run the management system, curate resources for classroom use, maintain physical space
Deliver VR experiences to classes and individuals
Help VR users use the headsets, answer their questions
Help Faculty understand how to use VR in their teaching
Contact department heads and chairs to create business for the lab via email or other methods to describe our services and capabilities
Write user documentation for software and lab technology
Participate in ongoing Virtual Reality User Experience Research

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience running a lab or similar area a big plus. Demonstrated organizational ability, ability to cope with problematic equipment and multiple simultaneous users under pressure without getting easily frustrated. Good writing and speaking skills and a desire to help people experience VR and expand the use of emerging visualization technologies in teaching and learning.
We have two Virtual Reality labs on campus, one in Minneapolis and one in St. Paul. There are two positions available. One will be primarily based in St. Paul, the other in Minneapolis. The positions back each other up, so cross-campus travel may be necessary at times. The positions are each 20 hours/wk. Specific hours TBD, flexibly 4 hours a day M-F.
These positions are part of the Visualization Team. With the team, you will occasionally help test software and interact with other resources such as our 30-foot visualization wall and 11K 360/Stereoscopic camera.
There are opportunitities to use Data Science, Coding, and AWS skills on the team. They are welcome but not required for these positions.

To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
