Kamehameha Schools, Kapalama Campus is looking to fill a few Admissions Kokua positions. Our Admissions Kokua assists with greeting keiki & ohana at drop off, answering questions, proctoring, checking keiki in & out, etc.
Our ideal candidate would have experience working with groups of keiki (classroom experience a plus!) and customer service skills.
These are part time, temporary positions.
Targeted dates: 10/1/26 – 6/30/27, with the greatest need during Fall Break (10/5 – 10/9), and the following Saturdays.
Hourly rate is $27/hr.
Job Summary
Administers standardized tests, observations and/or interviews in a classroom setting and/or online to KS applicants. Responsible to ensure that test administration, observation, and interview is consistent with all required testing, observation and interview protocols so as to ensure the validity of the results.
Essential Responsibilities
- Administer standardized tests in a classroom setting, participate in observations and/or conduct online interviews to applicants to grades K-11.
- Duties include: checking-in students, taking role, disseminating and collecting test materials, developing rapport with children ranging in age from 4-16 years old, verbally administering the test(s), observations, and/or interview(s) to include providing instructions and oral test administration (as needed).
- Responsible for timing the tests and/or interviews, recording and documenting observations and interview answers and other information as needed while maintaining classroom/online management.
- Ensures that assessment administration is consistent with all required protocols and procedures and maintain confidentiality of assessment materials so as to ensure that the results are valid.
Position Requirements
Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.
- High School Diploma.
- Customer service experience.
- Ability to work independently, remain flexible and resourceful, manage a classroom of 20-25 students, develop rapport with children ages 4-16 years old, and maintain discretion and confidentiality.
- Excellent judgment and strong interpersonal skills to include excellent oral communication skills.
- Able to perform detail-oriented work with minimal errors.
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to minority cultures and values. Familiarity with KS's mission and goals as they relate to the education of Hawaiian children.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Communications, or a related field.
- Experience working with students/parents.
- Experience in an educational setting.
- Experience administering individual and group tests to children (ages 4-18).
- Knowledge of standardized testing practices and protocols.
- Familiar with rules/regulations of Privacy Rights of students and parents. Knowledge of federal laws; rules/regulations of Civil Rights Act and Americans With Disabilities Act as they pertain to applicants for admission, particularly with regard to reasonable accommodations for testing
Physical Requirements
- Frequently sit, perform desk based computer tasks and grasp light/fine manipulation.
- Occasionally stand/walk, write by hand, and lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
- Rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach/work above shoulder, grasp forcefully.
Working Conditions
- Work is conducted in an office/school environment and may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces.
- Work is typically conducted on Saturdays, but other days/hours may be required to meet goals and objectives.
