Title: Quality Engineer
Location: Belgrade, Serbia
Position Summary
The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of software products throughout the development lifecycle. This role works closely with Product Managers, Developers, DevOps Engineers, and Release Managers to define quality strategies, perform testing activities, identify risks, automate testing processes, and drive continuous improvement of product quality.
Key Responsibilities
Test Planning & Quality Strategy
- Participate in requirements reviews, design discussions, and sprint planning activities.
- Define test strategies, test plans, and quality acceptance criteria.
- Identify quality risks and recommend mitigation approaches.
- Ensure test coverage aligns with business and technical requirements.
Test Execution
- Design, develop, and execute manual and automated test cases.
- Perform functional, integration, regression, end-to-end, and exploratory testing.
- Validate defect fixes and verify system behavior against requirements.
- Document test results and provide clear feedback to development teams.
Test Automation
- Develop and maintain automated test frameworks and test suites.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
- Improve automation coverage to reduce manual testing effort and increase release confidence.
- Troubleshoot and maintain automated test execution environments.
Quality Assurance & Defect Management
- Identify, document, and track software defects.
- Work with engineering teams to prioritize and resolve quality issues.
- Analyze recurring defects and recommend preventive actions.
- Support root cause analysis activities following incidents or production issues.
Collaboration
- Partner with Developers, Product Managers, DevOps Engineers, and stakeholders throughout the SDLC.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, standups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Communicate testing progress, quality risks, and release readiness.
Continuous Improvement
- Recommend improvements to testing processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Contribute to quality metrics and reporting.
- Support initiatives that improve product reliability, customer experience, and release quality.
- Promote a culture of quality ownership across engineering teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in software quality assurance and testing.
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
- Experience creating and executing test plans and test cases.
- Understanding of defect tracking and test management tools.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
