What you’ll be doing
Join our Global Markets team as a Student Analyst or Associate on our eTrading Quant team in this 12-month role and become part of a team focused on delivering innovative banking and investment solutions to CIBC’s retail, wealth and business clients including corporates, governments and institutional clients around the world. Our Global Markets business comprises our sales, trading, structuring and research teams spanning cash and derivative products in foreign exchange, commodities, rates and equities in addition to securitization, prime brokerage, money markets and more. We are widely recognized for our capabilities and leadership in these areas and remain committed to investing in technology and talent to drive innovation and scalable growth.
The FX eTrading Quant team develops quantitative models, pricing algorithms, and analytics for the electronic foreign exchange (FX) business. We move quickly on our ideas and test our hypotheses relentlessly. Working closely with both trading, sales, and business analysts, you will help drive the business forward by building out internal applications, infrastructure, analytics, and pricing/market making algorithms.

The expected annualized base salary for this role is $100,000.
The base salary is determined by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, as well as geographic location and specific business needs. Our compensation philosophy supports ongoing growth and development, enabling progression within the salary range as team members advance in their roles.

Important information
You are enrolled a Bachelor's or Master’s degree with significant coursework related to software development and Computer Science, with a graduation date no earlier than August 2028.
Experience in software development in two or more general purpose programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, Java, or C++.

Process oriented – Present detailed analysis, financial modeling, structuring, and research to support senior professionals and help to identify opportunities to win business, execute transactions, automate existing processes and develop new businesses.
Communication – Partner with your team to make an impact by applying a technical skillset to help generate insights and/or optimize processes. Showcase highly effective written, oral and presentation skills with an ability to explain complex concepts.
Relationship management – Provide excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to contribute to high-performance teams and a demonstrate commitment to acting with integrity.
Who you are
You have demonstrated interest in Capital Markets. You are highly motivated, accomplished and a success-oriented individual who has a keen interest in pursuing a career in finance and/or Market making industry demonstrated through school courses, clubs and/or related work experience.
You're digitally savvy. You build software in collaboration with others (whether as part of a prior role, coursework, or extracurricular activities). You have experience building either front-end or back-end applications with languages like JavaScript, Python, and Java (non-exhaustive). You also have experience building software in a collaborative setting using software version control systems like git.
It’s an asset if you have experience using with data engineering and data analysis, whether as part of a prior role, coursework, or extracurricular activities. Ability to read and write SQL. Experience with polars, spark, or pandas is an asset.
