Come join our Operating Room team at Saint Francis Hospital, a member of Trinity Health Of New England!Position Purpose
Schedules surgical procedures, including, pre and postoperative visits under the direction of the provider. Responsible for maintaining proper provider schedules and coordinating surgeries in accordance with provider templates. In addition, the employee will be responsible for coordinating the surgeons’ OR schedule and aligning it with the ambulatory practice schedule to ensure there are no overlaps. Processes also include obtaining accurate procedure, demographic and insurance information from the patient. Responsible for working with multiple physician practices and Hospital departments.
What you will do
Obtain pre-surgical testing, arrangements and reporting to pre-admission
Accurately capture patient information including demographic, diagnosis, procedure, insurance and physician and maintains accurate information in the electronic medical records system (EPIC)
Coordinate exchanges of information between physicians as it pertains to the surgical cases
Review discharge instructions with patients and ensures proper follow-up appointments are scheduled
Maintain proper provider schedules and coordinates surgeries in an efficient manner
Adjust schedule template to accurately reflect surgeons clinical time
Complete any pre-authorizations and prior approvals from third party payers for all radiology and surgical procedures
Collaborate with Medical Practice Assistants within the office to coordinate aftercare and services required with outside facilities
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum High School Graduate or equivalent; Associates preferred
2-5 years Healthcare office experience. Medical terminology preferred. Prior surgical scheduling experience highly preferred
Strong interpersonal, communication and telephone skills required. Proficient in the use of computer systems. Familiarity with electronic health records
Ability to deal with physician office staffs and ancillary department staffs
