EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school graduate required. Some college or business school preferred. One-year retail sales experience, preferably in a hospital gift shop using volunteer help. Sales expertise required. LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: N/A ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building. - Following hospital policies and procedures. - Following departmental policies and procedures. - Contributing to the overall quality of services. - Assuming responsibility for keeping informed about changes in policies and procedures. 2. Assures prompt and courteous customer service. - Responds to customer needs and requests with respect and courtesy. - Demonstrates a customer oriented approach to internal and external customers. - Speaks constructively about NCBH in the presence of customers, colleagues and the community. - Ensuring customers are aware of customer service cards. - Engaging customers in active selling. 3. Maintains inventory and attractive display of Gift Shop merchandise. - Placing merchandise to sell from inventory. - Pricing merchandise by using the basic mark-up formula. - Ordering and maintaining inventory as predetermined by the Manager. - Cleaning the shop to provide attractive displays. - Compiling a list of inventory needs. - Scanning the Gift Shop for new merchandise upon arrival for each shift. - Providing regular feedback to the Gift Shop Manager to ensure a smooth operation. - Checking eCommerce Web site hourly for customer orders. 4. Operates Point-of-Sale system. - Closing out Point-of-Sale system by counting drawers and recording cash/charges/payroll deduction/checks. - Ensuring zero variance at end of volunteer and daily shifts through reconciliation process. 5. Assists in training Gift Shop Staff and volunteers. - Training of volunteer staff to provide backup support. - Developing positive rapport with team members by encouraging constructive relationships; respects, appreciates, and supports the diversity of ideas. 6. Assures continuous quality of services by maintaining updated knowledge and skills. - Attending monthly meetings. - Attending continuing education programs provided in-house. - Maintaining and using updated procedures to be able to provide quality, efficient customer service.
