Description

A beekeeper, also known as an apiarist, manages bee colonies and their hives. Their duties include:

Maintaining hives: Building, repairing, and cleaning hives and equipment

Inspecting hives: Checking for disease, pests, and parasites

Harvesting honey: Collecting honey from hives and extracting it from combs

Preparing honey: Jarring, bottling, packing, and labeling honey

Marketing honey: Selling honey to consumers or distributors

Pollination: Renting hives to farms and orchards

Breeding bees: Raising and breeding queen bees

Transporting hives: Moving hives to locations for pollination or honey production

Managing colonies: Ensuring colonies have enough food, and dividing or introducing new colonies

Maintaining records: Keeping records of hive health, treatments, and honey production

Researching: Participating in research and development trials

Beekeeper

Beekeepers work in a variety of industries, including agriculture, forestry, manufacturing, and commercial. They may also run their own businesses.

Beekeepers should be physically fit and able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. They should also be interested in plants and insects, and enjoy working independently.
