Orthopedic Surgeon– Full-Time

The Timmins and District Hospital (TADH) is seeking a full-time Orthopedic Surgeon to join our innovative, multi-disciplinary referral and teaching hospital in Timmins.

The ideal candidate will have a subspecialty in foot and ankle or hand and upper extremity training. The successful candidate can expect equitable access to operating room time, fracture clinics, and reasonable on-call expectations. TADH supports over 200 orthopedic surgeries annually.

There is also an opportunity to teach and mentor medical students and family medicine residents, through affiliation with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.

Position Requirements

Candidates must:

• have (or be eligible for) Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Orthopedic Surgery.
• be (or eligible to be) licensed to practice as an Orthopedic Surgeon in the Province of Ontario
• have (or be be eligible to obtain) Canadian Medical Protective Associate (CMPA) coverage
• have a subspecialty in foot and ankle or hand and upper extremity training
• have a commitment to patient safety and high standards of care

Remuneration

Compensation is a combination of Fee-for-Service, a lucrative Northern Specialist Alternate Payment Plan, and a HOCC On-Call stipend. 

Incentives

• The Timmins and District Hospital provides an incentive package up to $60,000 over four years.
• Applicants are eligible for a repayable interest-free loan up to $150,000.
• Applicants can apply for the Ministry of Health Northern and Rural Recruitment and Retention Initiative (N3R). The N3R Initiative includes an $84,851 incentive over a 4-year period for Canadian citizens and permanent residents who establish a full-time practice in Timmins.
