About the Job:

The RN, Ambulatory Surgery Center Quality and Safety Nurse will lead patient safety and quality of care efforts while striving to create and maintain a culture of safety within the Elliot One Day Surgery and Endoscopy Center. Utilizing the principles of process improvement and change management, the RN, Ambulatory Surgery Center Quality and Safety Nurse will partner with the Surgery Center’s leadership team and governing body to facilitate the implementation of evidence-based and regulatory standards of nursing and clinical practice, leading various large and small-scale quality improvement and health system projects with end-to-end ownership.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead the development and implementation of the Elliot One Day Surgery Center and Endoscopy Center’s quality improvement, risk management, and infection prevention plans in accordance with the mission and strategic goals of the surgery center, federal and state laws and regulations, and accreditation standards (AAAHC & CMS).
• Co-lead with the Clinical Director, the development and implementation of systems, policies, and procedures for the identification, collection, analysis, and submission of performance measurement data.
• Heavily participate in, and facilitate surgery center committees such as Quality Improvement, Infection Control, and Risk Management/Safety.
• Educate and train Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) staff as to the Quality Improvement, Risk, and Infection Prevention plans and their respective responsibilities of the programs.
• Collect and summarize performance data, identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Lead, facilitate, and advise on internal quality improvement studies.
• Conduct investigations of patient safety events. Provide further investigation and/or root cause analysis as needed. Develop corrective action plans to improve the overall quality and safety of patient care. Collaborate with risk management to determine reporting requirements of regulatory agencies.
• Support the peer review process.
• Assist the surgery center in accreditation survey preparation, actively participating in the survey process.
• Assure facility compliance with Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), Centers for Medicate and Medicaid Services (CMS) standards and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations to maintain compliance and accreditation.
• Inform personnel of changes in regulatory requirements.
• Continuously improve quality by monitoring policies and ensuring content is up to date.
• Support Culture of Safety initiatives.
• Collaborate with nursing leadership and other health team members when responding to clinical practice issues.

Who You Are:

• A minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse, with a special emphasis in ambulatory surgery, including operating room or preoperative/postoperative required.
• An additional two (2) years of experience in risk management, infection control and/or quality management and performance improvement activities preferred. Membership and participation in professional organizations preferred.
• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), master’s degree in healthcare or closely related field preferred. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Current and valid license as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Hampshire required.
• Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ); or Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) preferred.
