Scientist. B-Cell Immunology ( 6 Month Contract)

Overview

Monte Rosa Therapeutics is seeking an energetic and highly motivated B-Cell Biologist for a  6 month  contract, located in Boston to support the development and characterization of novel molecular glue degraders for the treatment of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. As part of the Discovery Immunology team, this role will broadly support multiple immunology and inflammation (I&I) projects/programs, both in vitro and ex vivo, from early discovery through lead optimization.

The ideal candidate is an immunologist with a strong technical background in B cell immunology, particularly with primary human and mouse cells/tissues, and a demonstrated ability to move projects/programs forward through collaborative teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Design, optimize and execute experiments using a variety of primary immune cells and tissues isolated from human, mouse or cynomolgus monkey (including PBMCs, B cells, whole blood, spleen, bone marrow, etc.)
• Process ex vivo mouse tissue (spleen, bone marrow, lymph node, etc.)
• Explore and characterize target mechanism of action using immuno-assays: Flow cytometry (spectral a plus), Meso Scale Discovery (MSD)/ELISA/alphaLISA, Western blot, Simple Western (Jess)
• Maintain timely and detailed notes using electronic lab notebook
• Communicate findings clearly and concisely to both large and small cross-functional audiences

Qualifications

• MS in Immunology or Cell Biology with 7+ years of hands-on experience in I&I drug discovery research, preferably in a pharmaceutical setting; or a PhD, with 2 -4 years of pharmaceutical experience
• Experience handling whole blood, primary immune cells and tissue, including cell purification, stimulation, and analysis
• Solid understanding of B (and T) cell biology in the context of autoimmunity
• Experience in protein detection/quantitation methodology (e.g., MSD, ELISA, Western blotting, Jess)
• Multi-parameter flow cytometry expertise is essential
• Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel/PowerPoint, GraphPad Prism, and FlowJo
• Collaborative attitude, strong attention to detail, ability to optimize/master experimental techniques, strong organizational skills
