BEGINNING SALARY: $45,900/Year with complete benefits package
Sampson County Parks & Recreation is seeking an energetic, organized, and community-minded Recreation Coordinator to help create outstanding recreation experiences for residents of all ages. This position plays a key role in planning and delivering recreation programs, youth athletics, special events, and community activities. The Recreation Coordinator works directly with participants, parents, coaches, volunteers, staff, schools, and community partners to deliver programs that are safe, fun, and inclusive.
The Recreation Coordinator is responsible for:
- Creating and evaluating a variety of recreation programs and events
- Coordinating program logistics-from registration and team organization to scheduling games and ensuring organization of equipment
- Supporting program personnel by recruiting volunteers and training staff
- Working closely with maintenance staff to ensure parks and facilities are equipped for safe use
The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic professional eager to utilize their proven leadership and organizational skills to develop recreational programs for Sampson County community members.
This candidate will also possess:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills necessary to work together with local volunteers and participants
- The ability to build strong relationships with community members
- Strong problem-solving and time-management skills
- Knowledge of youth athletics, program management, and volunteer coordination
To be well-equipped for this role, the ideal candidate will possess the minimum following qualifications:
- A valid North Carolina Driver's License (required)
- A bachelor's degree in Recreation Administration, Parks and Recreation, Sports Management, Physical Education, or a related field (preferred)
- Experience in recreation, athletics, parks and recreation, or a related area (preferred)
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
- Experience coordinating youth sports, community programs, volunteers, special events, marketing, or social media (highly desirable)
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification and CPRP certification, or the ability to obtain them (preferred)
