Completions Applications Engineer – Downhole Advanced Heater Systems

Salamander is seeking a Completions Applications Engineer to support the design, engineering, and application of advanced heater systems for conventional and unconventional oil & gas well completions. This role is responsible for developing fully integrated heater completion solutions including artificial lift interfaces, intelligent/smart completions, and mechanical wellbore tools, tailored to customer requirements and operational constraints.

This position requires on-site presence.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review customer requirements and recommend standard downhole heater system configurations using approved company products, designs, and deployment methodologies.
  • Configure existing heater system solutions for quotation and proposal development based on established engineering standards and design guidelines.
  • Prepare preliminary heater system layouts and wellbore schematics for customer meetings and sales proposals.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Engineering to ensure customer requirements are accurately translated into commercially viable and technically compliant proposals.
  • Provide technical support during job planning, tender preparation, and post‑job review.
  • Review operating conditions, well parameters, and application requirements to verify compatibility with existing product capabilities and approved designs.
  • Identify technical risks, operational constraints, and deviations from standard applications.
  • Escalate all non-standard applications, design modifications, performance deviations, or new product requirements to the VP of Engineering for review, redesign, and approval.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, customer applications, and technologies relevant to downhole heating systems and associated completion equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, petroleum engineering, materials engineering, or related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of construction principles, completion systems, and production operations
  • 5–10 years of experience in downhole completions or production solutions.

  • Knowledge of downhole completion and production systems.
  • Experience with intelligent/smart completions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience building well completion hook-up drawings and procedures.
  • Experience in preparing technical proposals.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across Sales, Operations, and Engineering organizations.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple engineering packages simultaneously.
  • High attention to detail.
