Job Details:
The Young Lab in the Department of Integrative Biology is seeking one undergraduate animal care technician to help care for our Coquí frog colony. Experience working with animals is not required for this position, but a strong passion for animals is necessary.
Frog embryos develop in a variety of ways – some turn into tadpoles first, but many develop straight into the frog form from the egg. In our lab, we seek to understand how development produces variation in animals, mainly using Coquí frogs, which develop directly into the adult form from the egg. We make caring for the well-being of the frogs in our colony a top priority to ensure the breeding success for the variety of experiments in the lab that utilize frog embryos.
No previous research experience or background in biology is required. Students that have experience and/or a fascination with herps and herp husbandry are especially encouraged to apply. Must be comfortable handling live feeder insects (e.g., crickets, fruit flies, springtails).
