The Role
The Senior Specialist is responsible for bringing in business (consigning and selling) in South East Asia region, requiring in-depth knowledge of client relationship management and the 20th and 21st century art market.
Specific duties & responsibilities will include but are not limited to
Lead and drive business in SEA subcategory to attain SEA market leadership
Develop business development strategies, including auction and private sales specifically for SEA category and overall 20/21 development in SEA region, with Co-Head of Department and Regional Managing Director.
Share expertise and develop successor in the SEA category for talent planning.
Work closely with the heads of representative offices in SEA, formulate and implement business getting strategy, maximising various channels for target client groups.
Proactively identify key external/internal stakeholders, clients and contacts and create/cultivate productive networks within the market place for 20th and 21st century art.
Manage the pipeline from the sourcing of opportunities to closing deals and concluding successful client sales.
Participate in structuring and negotiating commercially viable deals and drive profitability.
Work with Client Strategy, Business Intelligence and Marketing teams to leverage and create complete picture of client needs that drives the sales strategy.
Deliver significant revenue targets through the fostering and growing of client relationships.
Identify and maintain relationships with all client categories (collectors, dealers, corporations, institutions), including the ability to work with major clients in the sale of high value property.
Participate in pre-selling upcoming auctions through touring, events and other targeted marketing efforts.
Participate in Telephone Bidding with clients during the auction.
Work with buyers during sale week to market and pre-sell the sale.
The Candidate
Bachelor degree or equivalent work experience in fine arts
Minimum 8 years experience as specialist in gallery or auction house
Knowledge of the auction business
Demonstrated ability in appraising property and business-getting
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Customer-service oriented with strong negotiation and influencing skills
Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize
Strong strategic vision and track record in delivering successful sales
Collaborative, well-respected and able to address conflicts
Demonstraed leadership skills in managing a team is an advantage
