Job Description
The University Information and Tickets Office (UIT) Student Manager is responsible for facilitating the efficient and effective flow of information, planning, revising, and implementing of changes in the policies and procedures of the UIT Office. In addition to typical UIT Front Desk Staff responsibilities, the Student Manager schedules, coordinates, and supervises the functions of the UIT staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
Additionally, this position assists the University Information and Tickets Full-Time Manager in the daily verification of funds from the University Information and Tickets Office, Centers Reservations, as well as any other campus areas as needed. This position requires a high degree of confidentiality and accuracy and will be responsible for large sums of money on a continual basis.
This position reports to the UIT Manager. They are responsible to the Student Employment Coordinator and Payroll Coordinator for the University Centers.

Specific Duties
Staffing/Hiring/Scheduling/Supervising:
- Responsible for, in conjunction with the UIT Manager, interviewing, hiring, and training new employees.
- At the end of new employee probationary periods or at the end of each semester, conduct employee performance evaluations as determined by the Student Employment Coordinator.
- Plan and facilitate bi-weekly staff meetings.
- Meet with each employee and discuss questions, observations, and concerns throughout the semester. Observing desk staff, minimum of 1 hour per week.
- Monthly provide staff with professional development opportunities.
- Serve as a liaison between the UIT Full-Time Manager and staff.
- Professionally resolve employee conflict
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee files.
- Evaluate and document staff performance on a regular basis to include discussion with the UIT Manager regarding issues.
- Schedule hours for front desk staff members including regular academic hours, event shifts, finals weeks, breaks, and summer, and ensure there is scheduled coverage for all shifts and events.
- Create and maintain schedules in Microsoft Teams; monitor and approve staff shift changes as needed.
- Monitor staff payroll, including approving timesheets in Workday bi-weekly, reviewing wage information sheets, and wage changes to ensure accuracy.
- Assist UIT Manager in creating cost reports on employee hours.
Training:
- Plan and coordinate UIT Office semester orientations and ongoing trainings.
- Assist in providing training and event coverage for off-site events in conjunction with the UIT Ticket Specialist and University Information & Tickets Manager, serving as team lead at events as assigned.
- Revise and update the UIT Team Member and Student Manager handbooks.
Cashier Duties:
- Prepare event cash bags for ticketed events.
- Count and reconcile previous days money from registers and events for University Information and Tickets Office.
- Count safes for accurate record keeping of funds.
- Prepare deposits as needed.
- Primary second count for UIT funds.
General:
- Be capable of fulfilling all specific duties of the Front Desk Staff, working a minimum of 2 hours per week at the UIT Desk.
- Efficiently work with other campus offices in relation to the UIT Office front desk operations.
- Maintain the DUC Lost and Found.
- Meet weekly with the UIT Manager and Ticket Specialist to discuss pertinent matters.
- Assist the UIT Manager in calculating the yearly fiscal budget for the department.
- Be accountable to and abide by the policies outlined in the University Centers Student Employment Handbook, Student Supervisory Staff Handbook, Student Manager Contract, and any department specific policies, procedures, and expectations.
- Fulfill and maintain all training requirements of University Centers Employment; PCI compliance training, Sexual Harassment, Centers Orientation, Information Security Awareness, Mandatory Reporters, Fire Extinguisher, and others as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must be available to work up to 20 hours per week during the semester, maintain regular office hours, and attend weekly staff meetings and events as necessary, including weekend shifts. Student Managers must also attend a SuperStaff retreat once a semester, in addition to monthly mandatory SuperStaff meetings. Expected to have hours during winter, spring, and summer break in order to maintain desk coverage during UIT hours of operation as well as make additional preparations for the upcoming semester.
The Student Manager must be able to supervise staff and work without direct supervision.
Students applying for this position must pass a Criminal Background Check initiated by the University Centers.
Successful applicants must complete mandatory Payment Card Industry (PCI) Compliance Training within 8 weeks of beginning employment. PCI training will be provided by the University Centers and must be kept up to date throughout employment with the University Centers.
Preferred Qualifications
Applicants should demonstrate leadership abilities. Applicants should possess a thorough awareness of campus offerings, a general knowledge of University policies, knowledge of campus layout, and locations and functions of offices. Some experience working at the UIT Office and knowledge of the University Centers’ operations and policies is preferred, but not mandatory.
Proper telephone etiquette, cash register experience, and knowledge of office skills are preferred. Having a means of transportation is a plus due to offsite ticket sale operations that arise throughout the year.
Preference will be given to qualified candidates with at least two semesters remaining at UWSP.
Education
The Student Manager must be at least a part-time student (enrolled in a minimum of 6 undergraduate or 5 graduate credits) and be in good academic standing (cumulative and semester GPAs of 2.0 or higher) at the time of hiring and throughout employment.
