Description
We are seeking experienced freelance interpreters in the Philadelphia area to support medical interpretation assignments between English and the following languages:
Spanish ↔ English
Vietnamese ↔ English
Bengali ↔ English
Assignments will primarily take place in healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, medical offices, and other patient-care environments.
What you’ll do
Provide accurate, complete, and impartial interpretation between patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
Interpret medical information clearly while preserving meaning, tone, and intent.
Follow professional standards for confidentiality, ethics, and cultural sensitivity.
Arrive on time, prepared, and professionally dressed for scheduled assignments.
Maintain appropriate boundaries and comply with all client-site and healthcare privacy requirements.
Qualifications
Professional fluency in English and at least one of the following: Spanish, Vietnamese, or Bengali.
Prior medical interpreting experience required.
Strong understanding of medical terminology and healthcare communication.
Demonstrated ability to interpret accurately in high-pressure or sensitive situations.
Reliable transportation and availability for assignments throughout the Philadelphia area.
Preferred qualifications
Completion of a minimum 40-hour medical interpreter training program is a plus.
Experience interpreting in hospitals, emergency departments, specialty clinics, behavioral health, or other medical settings.
Knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare confidentiality standards.
Engagement details
This is a freelance/independent contractor opportunity. Assignment volume, location, duration, and scheduling will vary based on client demand and interpreter availability.
