Opportunity Overview 

The Municipal Enforcement Officer plays a vital role in promoting public safety, regulatory compliance, and community well-being through the enforcement of municipal by-laws and selected territorial legislation. Reporting to the Municipal Enforcement Sergeant, this position conducts inspections, investigates complaints, supports public education initiatives, and represents the municipality in legal proceedings when required. The successful candidate will work closely with residents, businesses, municipal departments, and enforcement partners to help maintain a safe, respectful, and well-informed community.  

Compensation Snapshot 

• Hourly Rate: $47.29 per hour 

• Hours of Work: 35 hours per week 

• Settlement Allowance - $20907.44/year 

• Status: Full-time Permanent 

• Union Status: Unionized 

Key Responsibilities 

• Enforce municipal by-laws and selected territorial legislation through inspections of businesses, vehicles, and properties. 

• Investigate complaints, interview witnesses and involved parties, and prepare detailed enforcement reports and documentation.  

• Conduct proactive public safety activities, including traffic control, radar patrols, warnings, and ticket issuance.  

• Prepare court documentation, compile evidence, and represent the municipality in court proceedings when required. 

• Develop and deliver public awareness, traffic safety, and community education programs. 

• Collaborate with the RCMP, municipal departments, businesses, and residents to support enforcement and public safety objectives.  

Qualifications 

• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent; combinations of education and experience may be considered.  

• Minimum 1-3 years of experience as a by-law officer, peace officer, constable, or in a related enforcement environment.  

• Valid Class 5 driver's licence, firearm licence, and ability to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.  

• Strong knowledge of legislation, investigations, inspections, evidence collection, report writing, and court processes.  

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills with a customer service mindset.  

• Indigenous language skills, traffic radar certification, and enforcement-related training are considered valuable assets.
