Assistant Shop Manager

Complete assigned fabrication projects on time and within estimate while meeting company and customer quality control and safety standards.

Essential Functions

1. Supervise and direct a crew of fabricators and welders in daily task performance and quality of work.
2. Supervise all employees in the safe and efficient performance of their work.
3. Operate a safe and organized work environment at the fabrication shop to meet all OSHA and other government requirements.
4. Study blueprints or other instructions to determine project requirements.
5. Obtain necessary equipment, material, and tools to perform job.
6. Observe work and monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure quality standards.
7. Fabricate, weld, and/or rig using machinery and power/hand tools.
8. Meet daily production expectation.
9. Participate in safety and skill training.
10. Confer, meet with and provide assistance to management personnel and project managers to discuss and help resolve problems and needs.
11. Ensure customer projects are completed on time meeting customer satisfaction, and with no safety or quality issues.
12. Ensure all parts get loaded on trailer.
13. Create Bill of Laden for material leaving shop.
14. Diagnose broken down equipment and or call technician to diagnose if necessary
15. Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned by the Shop Manager.

Work Environment

This is a shop position requiring inside or outside work and in various weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, cold). Work may include heights, hazards of operating equipment, power tools, and the presence of chemicals, dust and fumes. Noise level can range from quiet to loud -in excess of 100 decibels. Personal Protection Equipment is required: Safety shoes, safety glasses, hard hats, ear plugs, and gloves. Office work includes working with iPad for time entry, copiers, telephone, and meetings.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Regularly requires sitting, standing, walking, reaching, bending, climbing, reaching above the head and moving about the facility. It also requires good vision and hearing. May be required to lift or move up to 50 lbs.

Required Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 4-6 years of experience in fabrication and welding.
• CWI Inspector Preferred
