The Biospecimen Repository Core Facility (BRCF) is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented student to support daily repository and administrative operations. This position offers basic experience in a research environment while providing flexible hours that accommodate academic schedules. This position reports directly to the Program Director of the BRCF.

We are looking for a student interested and available to work 10-16 hrs/wk for approximately 6 months.

 

The Biobank at The University of Kansas Cancer Center supports cancer research by serving as a bank for human tissues and fluids, called biospecimens. Biospecimens are small amounts of blood, urine , stool or tissue used for medical research. Researchers use biospecimens and medical information from participants to study how genes, lifestyle and our environment may lead to cancer. The Biobank serves as a valuable resource for researchers at The University of Kansas Cancer Center and potentially around the world.

Job Duties Outlined:

• Attach and organize blood collection and research records within electronic systems.
• Review and redact pathology reports and other research documents as directed.
• Assist with identification of publications which the Biorepository supported.
• Support biospecimen inventory management, including specimen tracking, reconciliation, and data entry.
• Scan, file, and organize research and regulatory documents.
• Assist with special projects as assigned.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and research information.

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
