Your new role

We are looking for a committed and entrepreneurial individual ready to play a leadership role in sustaining and growing opportunities for contemporary art and culture right across Southend-on-Sea’s Cultural Portfolio. 

As a senior leader within the Culture Directorate of Southend City Council, the Enterprise, Investment and Cultural Programme Lead brings benefit to local residents by maximising the opportunities of Southend-on-Sea’s cultural assets, including museums, galleries, heritage buildings, music and civic events programmes, identifying funding streams, partnerships and sponsorship opportunities which support our ambitions to strengthen the city’s cultural offer, making it accessible to all.

 

The Enterprise, Investment and Cultural Programme Lead will work closely with the Head of Arts and Cultural Wellbeing, the Head of Contemporary Visual Arts, the Director of Southend Museums, senior colleagues and key stakeholders on the overall strategic direction and business planning for Focal Point Gallery, Southend Museums and the wider Culture & Tourism Portfolio.

What you'll need to succeed

Educated to Degree level in a relevant discipline or equivalent work experience Post graduate qualification in gallery or museum studies, arts management, events management, tourism, charity development or related field is desirable. Experience of working in a similar or equivalent role in the arts. Demonstrable experience in fundraising, income generation, monitoring and evaluation, financial management and budget monitoring are essential. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, for a range of audiences Experience of project evaluation and reporting and managing staff is essential.
